The Future Has Been Here 4Ever appreciation thread
God I effing adore this song - probably my favourite on the album.
I especially love it when the backing singers kick in near the end: "To your life, to your li-ife ... " It doesn't get enough love on here. So come on - what do you reckon?

Just you and me it would seem I loves it, Nicky's best vocal yet and amazing trumpet, it's the least overdone album and I loves me some cowbell.

Count me in! He sings really well on this one (on the SKON demo too, but that's Off Topic!) and the song is really well crafted. One of the (few) real good ones on this average album (my opinion of course).

It's my favourite track on the whole album. Would LOVE to hear it live in Bournemouth in 14 days (and counting)!!!! Failing that, how about it being released as a single, I think it would do better than INWJTEOL.

I think it's an awesome song! Took me a while to get into it, but now I love it.

Not too great really, I only like it for the trumpet which I can never get out of my head and of course the line "Like the Godfather 3, I never can escape!" I walk around singing this all the time to myself and then singing the trumpet part. Weird eh.

With its stupid title and Nicky vocals, it makes me feel faintly embarrassed to be a Manics fan. You know what it's like when you're showing your parents your photos from a holiday, and you forget that the photo of you touching your mate's penis is in there? That's the same feeling I get when I play people this album, and forget when to skip this track.

Haha, excellent. I like it! I love Nicky's vocals, I wish he'd sing more often really.

It's probably the best on the album.
I love the trumpet part Sean plays it's really catchy.

It is a really unique song. I also find myself singing along to that goofy line about Godfather III. LOL

I thought the trumpet was a stylophone when I first heard it. This song has grown on me though, thought it sounded like some bad Keith Richards solo effort to start with, but defo agree now that its the best MSP song with a Nicky vocal on it. His really laid back, deadpan style suits the mood on it

I'm a fan of it too and on the first listen thought it was good and contained Wire's best vocals on a Manics song. I think the odd/unique sound it has and the choir complements his vocals perhaps, but the unusual sound of the song is one of the reasons it appeals. The epic sound it reaches with the choir seems a bit too good for it to be a b-side.
Love the trumpet and guitar licks too.

I like that bit too. It actually made me like that song much more than I did at first, and I consider it perhaps the best Wire sung tune they've done (even if Ballad Of Bangkok Novotel is quite brilliant too - but in an entirely different way...)
