For some people that might be important, but for me it's all about the music and the singing in particular!

I'm also thinking if you've been a long time fan or were a fan in the early years you'd be pretty much aware of what they are like after all these years!

The music being fairly dire, the main thing about the Manics is their status as a 'political band' (something blatantly false, but which the band continually bring up.)

As for knowing what they were always really like: sure, and that's why its worth mentioning, and why this flyer put out by Occupy Cardiff is a nice touch.

Well I'm a Manic Street Preachers fan because of the amazing music and vocals first and foremost. The other stuff that goes beyond that (political thoughts etc) - sometimes I'm interested in it, sometimes I'm not. That's me.

Your intellectual curiosity seems to be very limited, but if the Manics' "superb vocals and music" and kissing James's flabby spotty backside is what floats your boat...

Since you ask, I think the Manics have been used by major corprorations to both recuperate the radical edge of the Situationist International by associating it with such a dullard fanbase, and perhaps also to promote the West's smooth transition towards what Colin Crouch terms 'post-democracy'.

Maybe its cruel of us to point out that the Manics are non-political, and that they only every intended to be post-poltiical - even so, they would be a bunch of bastards in my view. Neo-Normalization

Occupy Cardiff are pathetic, their "protest camp" outside Cardiff Castle was so short lived that if you blinked you might have missed it. They then set up "camp" outside the Unite building on Cathedral Road and had to take that down due to the wind. Building a protest camp outside a union office building is about as non-confrontational as you could possibly get.

If they had any balls they'd "occupy" Queen Street or in front of the Senedd in the Bay.

No. I, like the Manics, reserve the right to pretentious, to contradict and to wind people up. Enjoy!

Also, are there really people posting here called 'Tim'?

Oh you actually like them? First I've heard of it. Nice of you to admit to being a troll though, means we all know to ignore you.

Yes, he's the big cheese around these parts.

Oh, so Tim is the caws mawr around here? Aye, not something I'd put on my CV...

These are my opinions, I am not a troll anymore than the happless Wire might be. By the way, am I right in assuming that all those dates listed at the foot of your posts are Manics gigs you've attended.

Who says I "like them", though?

That's way below the belt and uncalled for!

There are plenty of people on this forum who aren't interested in the Manics any more which is fair enough. However, they don't go banging on about it and they usually refrain from posting in the mainly Manics part of the forum unless a particular topic interests them. Just as when I'm on Coldplay's forum I stick to the Manics thread and don't go into the part of the forum that is mainly about Coldplay jus to diss them!
