The demo version of Santiago Sunrise is a million times better than the album version (which itself isn't bad).

Yes, I wonder if that’s Nicky’s way of getting a credit for ‘introducing’ the talent

Didn't preorder after all.
Ok, so go to shop protected. And fuck! When did they put new releases at £10.99 and not £9.99 in first week of release? I was 50p short! I could have gone bank and come back. But FUCK.QUEUE! 'i'll get it before Friday. I'm on it. Stuff has been allocated for it. I've saw stuff on YouTube but didn't click yet. |

Yes I ordered 3 copies from HMV for my Japanese and Belguim friends as UK only with HMV. Received the LP's without the 7"s. Seen on Facebook someone else has had same issue.

Isn’t it just.
I was a bit nonplussed after hearing There’ll Come A War. I liked TBFTP when I first heard it and still do but in typical MSP fashion the lead singles / radio songs are the weaker songs. Didn’t expect it to be this good but it’s fucking brilliant. Last edited by Lee; 14-08-2020 at 16:33. |

I suppose it's a bit rarity-ish, looking like that - but I genuinely have no idea what's on the 7''!

Equally as good as The Great Western

It pretty much lives up to my hopes of being the most interesting album from ‘them’ since I Killed the Zeitgeist.
I compiled a first impressions top five while listening through. The top four was straightforward enough but I considered a few other candidates for the fifth spot which is a good sign. It’s perhaps unsurprising that these first impressions are biased against the songs previously heard. Top five. 1. Thirty Thousand Milk Bottles 2. From The Hands Of Violeta 3. Recuerda 4. Under the Mimosa Tree 5. The Last Song Under the Mimosa Tree is Horses Under Starlight all grown old. Let’s not go through another 14 years before we do this again, Bradders. |

I'm rather liking this but it's a bit too early days to say just how much. It's a solid set of eleven songs ranging from good to very good, but it almost feels like there's hints here and there of something even better and it's just a little too shy to indulge in some of the influences it wears. And maybe there's one instrumental too many.
But I'm also already on my fourth listen today, and that's after a few rounds of the demos in-between, and the signature Bradders melodies are making me nod in that very satisfactory fashion. And I rather like how much of a natural continuation it feels like from The Great Western rather than there being a fourteen-year gap. It's a very solid one and I can definitely see this having the same longevity that TGW has had. Speaking of the demos, actually a surprisingly neat package for a quick freebie set of surprisingly polished early takes. The acoustic "The Boy From the Plantation" is lovely, "Santiago Sunrise" is intriguingly different and I actually kinda wish the drum beat for "Thirty Thousand Milk Bottles" followed the demo version more closely.

If I had a top 5 it probably would be this:
1. The Last Song 2. Recuerda 3. Thirty Thousand Milk Bottles 4. From The Hands Of Violeta 5. La Partida If the demo of Santiago Sunrise was on the album that would have been in the top 3, I think.
