The Q Magazine Manics CD snippet thingy.
Our new issue, Q313, which has just hit newsstands comes with an exclusive Amy Winehouse tribute CD to go alongside our extensive cover feature on the late singer. Get the magazine now to get your hands on a copy of Back To... Back To Black, but in the meantime we're showcasing a different act each day who have covered a track from the album, today we hear from Manic Street Preachers who have tackled Wake Up Alone. James Dean Bradfield: "An amazing, personal, in-the-moment lyric that also felt strangely connected to our own album The Holy Bible - it has the kitchen-sink feel. Richey [Edwards] had such a talent for remembering the moment vividly and Amy had the same ability. There's a bit of Nicky Wire in there too, tidying the house. It could almost be a Manics lyric! It would have been childish to reverse the gender in the lyric, though. I thought, I've just got to go for it and make it work. It's acting, dear boy..." Ah Bradders, I love you. |

My first thought when I heard the line, " I stay up, clean the house..."
