Hotel/Transport?
We're looking to book a hotel for three days in the Brixton Academy area and another two days anywhere else in London. We're also looking to book cheap train tickets to get to Leicester. Anybody got any ideas? Reasonably priced is preferred

www.megatrain.com is good for London to Leicester travel. It's usually about £7 per ticket if you book in advance on the fast train which takes around 1hr 20mins.
Plus they are e-tickets so you can book them today and just print them off |

Assuming from your location that you're American - have you been to Britain before?
I'd look at Premier Inn and Travelodge as hotels - they're pretty cheap if you book them in advance and you know what you're getting. Similarly, travelling outside of peak times (9.30 am - 3.30pm being off peak during the day I think) you should be able to get train tickets for about £7 for a single. It'll cost you about £125 if you try and go from London to Leicester at rush hour though.

Yeah, whatever you do don't go on the train before 9am cause it will be expensive!

They're buggers on the trains - if you're in any doubt at all ask one of the staff members standing by the train doors whether your ticket is valid before you get on. On a lot of the Virgin ones out of Birmingham they'll tell you to make absolutely certain you can travel on the train before you go, and you'll get booted off if your ticket isn't valid. The cheaper your ticket the more restrictions you'll find generally.

Ahh, good, I was told about Megatrain before, forgot the name. Good to know the peak times as well, thanks!
