I've heard people say stuff akin to "they couldn't even get on the X factor"!, but it's not exactly as if the X factor is a bastion of musical credibility anyways.

It still sounds like an awful lot of fun.
The band may think it's a cool thing to do. Why not do it. In North America, DWTS pulls in millions of viewers. I don't watch but people I know do. If the Manics were on, I'd certainly tune in that week. |

My favourite show at the moment!! they usually have the Professonal dancers doing a routine to the song but the last couple of weeks they have had Annie Lennox and James Blunt on with no dancers.

See this is what happens when there is no primetime music television coverage. They are lucky to get it & it's all there is, where else are they going to be seen? Top Of The Pops?
Being snotty about it is a little insane.

I was going to say; really if they want to get on TV, especially primetime, they have barely any choice at the moment, do they?

Kelly Jones was on a couple of years back singing Handbags and Gladrags so it could be something like this

They have NEVER shied away from doing 'popular' entertainment. Yep even in the Richey era, what with appearances on kids TV, TOTP etc. This is a logical step to take too promote the single. Anyone that does get snotty about it, clearly only has their own views and may have completely misunderstood the Manics entirely! |

I can some see the logic in doing it, although exactly how many of their target market are going to be watching is questionable. I'll be the first to say that my feelings are mostly down to personal, well, prejudice. Having been a fan for so long, it just feels like the act of a desperate band flogging a half dead album wherever they can. It's on the same level as when they did FDTW on Gimme 5 with Nobby the Sheep dancing around. Good publicity as far as the band and record company are involved, but cringe-worthy. |

They could have the SKON video on constant loop on the freeview music channels and it wouldn't be as good exposure as being on Strictly.

Wire's just looking for another reason to wear those sparkly leggings.
