Note to manics....

This is how to do a limited edition exciting release, and a damn sight cheaper.

It's LP121 - Pillar box red, no band label or anything.
Hurrah! Pillar box red as I had hoped for - right, I'll part with my £165.00 now......

not to mention free shipping... I can't believe they have the nerve to charge an extra 13€ (the box costs 160€).

Btw, thanks for the link to the unboxing. I was thisclose to buying it, as I don't have any singles, basically, but seeing the actual contents made me realize it's not worth the money.
Besides, there's not even the deluxe edition booklet... are they serious?!

I would love to see the face of the winning bidder when they hear Rock N Roll Genius and it dawns on them that they've paid £41 plus postage to do so !!!!!

I cried when I realised I'd got it free and had to pay £8.99 for a double CD that I'd be able to get for half the price after Christmas (effectively paying £5 for Rock N Roll Genius).

Besides RNR Genius is a bonus track on the Japan CD for less than £41. Who are these idiots ?

Feels quite cheap. The CD cases all have the same back with the diagonal stipe just different colours. The CDs themselves are vinyl style but don't even say what they are, they just have the same colour and stripe as the back of the cases as the label.

The vinyl's are nice, the box ok but the inside that holds the cds had been bashed a bit. The mirror is just tat, barely better than the kind of thing you'd find in a christmas cracker.

Overall I always knew I was getting ripped off so I'm not too disappointed but it really should have been no more than £100 with all its limitations.
Did you have the b-sides beforehand on CD? If you didn't you've got a treasure-trove (well cardboard box) of some quality music to enjoy. And let's face it at the end of the day it's the music that we love. I do find it disappointing that the box set didn't have an added WOW factor to it though.

I'm not really the best person to comment. The only copies I've heard before are 64/128k downloads from Napster back in the day and anything would sound better than those. I've been suffering from a severe cold as well which doesn't help.

I've tried to listen to a broad cross section and I'd say they generally sound good but I dont have any of the old singles to compare with. Democracy Coma sounds the same as it does on Lipstick Traces, both sound better than on Stars and Stripes. On We Her Majesty's Prisoners the drums sound a little clearer when they kick in near the start but I start doubting myself very quickly. Overall, I really couldn't say for sure if they've been remastered or not.

I did find it amazing though just how many little details you start to notice when you focus and listen that closely.

I'm still pretty clueless to why the 7" colours are so wrong.

you have to be pretty bloody desperate to try and flog this if you are a record label making your own unboxing video - not one ultra-loyalist fan has made one, then?

sales must be total shit.

Nicky doesn't want to diminish the value of his copies of Suicide Alley.

If they wanted to differentiate them they could have, I dunno, made the vinyls themselves different colours instead of ruining the sleeves...
