Of course he does and people have the right to refuse to take his comments seriously for exactly the same reason.

If they really want to follow the 69 love songs blueprint they need to play it in order split accross two nights as special one offs.

It'd be interesting to see if they could pull it off as whilst there albums are quite varied each one is generally stylistically quite consistent with I guess the exception of KYE but on KYE that was almost part of what didn't work about it. 69 love songs made it work though

The bit where he moans about new bands not having anything to say winds me up. There are plenty you just have to look for them. These guys are one of the best examples.

On the subject of 70 song album, I would fucking love that. After pandering to everyone with Postcards (which I do like btw) an act of glorious self destruction would be brilliant.

I love that Magnetic Fields album, but there is a lot of filler on it. Although a lot of the songs are 2:00 minute affairs.

I'd like to see the band try but I can't see it.

I think they should concentrate on writing an album with 12 songs on it and not having to resort to repeating themsleves by the second verse of the opening song.

But, the thought of you having to listen to 70 typically structured songs is a great one.

Of course, all of this is complete conjecture, since the Manics split up after Generation Terrorists. I'm not even sure why Nicky Wire keeps telling us what albums his long-defunct one-album-wonders band is going to release, when they've not released anything since 1992.
My thoughts exactly. Maybe they should focus on their solo efforts after PFAYM? Nicky should do a solo album of 70 daft songs, that way my dying love for the Manics would stay unaffected, as his solo endeavours fail to attract my attention.

Did they ever mention this during an interview? I'm curious.

I think they should explore that weird post-rocky sound they showcased on 'The Vorticists' and make a really solid 10 track pop album of weird sounds and weirder lyrics. It would be quite refreshing and wouldn't be a re-hashing of EMG/SATT or THB/JFPL.

PLEASE DO IT!!!

Yessssssssssssssssssssssssssss!!! Totally amazingly awesome if they did!
I don't see that they'd have anything left to prove on a commercial level.
And we all know that their best moments always come when the lyrics are
100% uncommercial...
