I fucking love Richard Hawley. That sounds like silky perfection. I'm guessing this is the softer acoustic album then?

This is all very very true. I try and see Postcards as an anomaly to be honest.

I'm a Richard Hawley fan too, his voice is like honey. I thought the duet on Some kind of Nothingness with Ian McCullloch was the highlight of PFAYM. I think a male/male duet sounds good. I also love the Richard Hawley/Elbow song on The Seldom Seen Kind album.

I hope the JDB/RH duet is homoerotic as fuck.

Richard Hawley is pure delicatessen! + a duet w/ James = it has to be worth the whole album!

Curious to hear it. I believe it will be good and addictive the more you listen to it. As Manics usually do.

True, 'See It Like Sutherland' was a one-off, but if they're willing to branch out experimentally in one such musical direction, then I think it's telling of their current productivity in the studio and willingness to try out new ideas, and they'll just as likely be dabbling in other genres too IMO.
So the worse case scenario is that we'll get a contender to the 'most incoherent record the Manics have released to date' title, the other contender being KYE.

Experimental is fine as long as the quality control is still there. I'm not interested in a *hmm this hasn't quite worked but i can see what they were trying to do* album. They're too old

I was going to say, he's lost a fair bit of weight there...
