Manics songs for wedding

I'm getting married soon and I've been making a set list for the ceremony and reception.

I've come to realise that most of the music I listen to and love is really inappropriate for a wedding. I wondered if any of you have any suggestions for manics songs for either ceremony or reception?

I think for the dancing at night I'll have the cover of Can't Take My Eyes Off You. I thought about it for the first dance but we've decided on Tonight Tonight by SP

I did a cover of Can't Take My Eyes Off You at my wedding, went down well. I think lyrically you're on shaky ground with actual Manics songs, they're never quite optimistic enough.

Yeah! I love them because they aren't a band that does lovey songs but would like to include at least one in there. I think when the band takes a break and we get the DJ on I'll slip motorcycle emptiness on just because I know all our friends will dance to it.

I think I'm perhaps best to stick just with those

Isn't Dying Breeds a song about marriage? "Dying breeds" being couples who stay together for a very long time.... kinda like, y'know?

The cover of Rock n Roll Music is bound to be a hit on the dance floor

Definitely the wrong band for a wedding. Never writing a love song* is probably one of the only promises they've never broken.

If it's something for the disco afterwards, A Design For Life because everybody knows it.

* A straightforward one, anyway, Nicky's written a few to Richey down the years.

went down this exact route myself last month - most expected us to have the Manics as our first dance, but nothing in particular suited (as much as i badgered to have 'hibernation', that one was particularly vetoed). on top of that, most of my mates detest the band, so we had to cater to the masses when it came to playlisting the rest of the night (boo) - was told by several parties they'd all head to the bar if ADFL or anything came on!

worked it out by choosing a more suitable first dance, that was relevant to us both - then followed it up with the cover of 'can't take my eyes off you' as the first "get everyone on the floor" number; worked brilliantly as everyone knew it, from all generations - and it wasn't until too late that those who previously said they'd protest realised exactly who they were dancing to.

victory was mine!

I've always found Lust for Life and C'mon Aileen were good ones for getting people dancing

that was mean. It's your wedding, you should have what you want. Obviously not a night of manics songs but one or 3 would be ok

anyways my suggestion for a manics song for a wedding is always Everything Must Go - *I look to the future it makes me cry*

haha, it's a long running thing, so it was expected! no malicious intent. but yeah, when thought about properly, i couldn't really find any to fit. i think i did have 'this is the day' down on the list too, whether it got played or not i can't remember!

Didn't Nicky admit to breaking the no love song promise with Further Away?
