covers

too lazy too serach...

whats your top 3 manic covers..?

1. we are all bourgeois now
2. cant wrap your arms around a memory
3. bright eyes/last christmas... cant decide..

the manics have so many great songs. i think the only band that gives so many different ways of writings songs after 12 albums. and the covers are one of the secrets that hardcore fans will give them a new way of thinking about them..

bright eyes is just a live version isn't it? Sounds too muddy..james should re-record it for his crooners album

Last Christmas is seared in my memory I loved it so much. I remember just staring at the telly, i'd never been to a manics gig so didn't know about his acoustic interludes.

For me their best cover is Suicide is Painless.. so good I forget it's a cover
not sure about 2 +3 yet

Totally agree with hummingbird Suicide Is Painless is timeless classic.

I'd love them to cover Turn The Page but I know it'll never happen.

Also echo Suicide is Painless, brilliant it sounds like an original and it's a cover that's effectively become a Manics song!

We Are All Bourgeois Now would also be in my top 3 and (might be controversial) but I think their cover of Umbrella is pretty awesome too.

Despite still never having heard The Horrors' original (does it even exist in studio form? All I ever heard was a muddy live clip) Vision Blurred is surely one of their best covers. And really deserved a better release than a bit-starved NME download.

I also love their versions of John Cale's Endless Plain of Fortune, Nirvana's 'Penny Royalty' (Pennyroyal Tea), and The June Bridges' The Instrumental.

Alright that's 4. Too hard.

It doesn't, and the world is a worse place for it. It sounded brutal and intense.

Top three off the top of my head:

MASH
Take The Skinheads Bowling
Umbrella

This will change in the next five minutes, I'm sure.
