Manics (tour) merchandise - why limited obtainability?
I have just been perusing the tour section, reviewing people's comments etc from the past few nights, and in particular the merchandise post...and I got to wondering...
Why is it in the recent past, there hasn't been the same availablity to get t-shirts or other tour related merchandise directly from either the manics website or other designated source? Of course there's sites like ebay and eil etc that sell current/old shirts, but in my seeking these they primarily seem to be from the third party market (individual people selling on what they don't want, or items that are unwanted/used/second hand). I have been drooling, in my usual manner of 'Manics related obsessive compulsive' behavaior, and desiring some of the new tour merchandise, but I'm assuming as consistent with SATT and JFPL tours, the official stuff won't be going up on their web.... but they used to ... I was able to get a couple of the PPF tour shirts directly from them (or it was townsend or something .. I forget) .... other band websites do this .... ...anyone have any known facts or indeed speculative guesses as to why? I can appreciate a marketing strategy of wanting to keep certain prints/items "exclusive" purchase for the tour, but why not stick up the album cover print shirts or at least a selection? Be curious to others opinions... Cheers p.s. I know I shouldn't covet ... but everything Manics is so shiny and pretty haha

alas I dunno why they don't sell their merch anymore. 2 years ago there was also Working Class Hero available to buy and not so long time ago there was a Truth t-shirt available to buy via charity site
http://www.orphanlyrics.com/default.html unfortunatelly it looks it's unavailable anymore as usual, they don't take off the links anymore from the website, they even still keep JDB's and Nicky's solo sites that don't work. typical behavious

It is a bit of a shame.
I had to get Stuart (Set_phasers_to_stun) the black labrador tshirt at the Edinburgh gig, because he couldn't find it online after the Glasgow gig. I suppose it's to encourage people to get tickets for and then spend loads of money at the gigs |

What do they do at the end of the tour with the unsold stuff ? Surely it would make sense to list it on the website (hopefully at reduced prices...) and let people buy it ? What will happen to it otherwise, some kind of Alan Partridge pulping type scenario ?

I think the fact that you can still buy Lifeblood & Lipstick Traces t-shirts might be a clue. They just ain't selling except at gigs.
Making the Lifeblood dog tag very collectable.

thats cos they're old..no reason why new stuff wouldn't sell. Its aimed at the fanbase after all. If the charlatans can sell merch thru their website why not the manics?
