First time I've heard clips of these songs, they all sound ok to me. Hopefully the single package will come early (Saturday)

From the sounds of it, Broken Up Again is better than most songs on the album.
So are the songs not going to be available digitally this time? Last edited by nocultureicons; 02-12-2010 at 09:55. |

I have to agree, the only reason I can imagine it didn't make it on is that it doesn't really fit the "one last shot at mass communication" remit - shame

BUA sounds like they took the chorus and used it for AWMIE's bridge, or vice versa. Either way it just sounds like another run of the mill, half-arsed b-side.

The manics "run of the mill, half-arsed" b-sides are better than most bands album tracks!

Certainly not when it comes to the PFAYM era! I'll give the album this though, the album tracks are slightly less worse than the b-sides.

Do 'Lost Voices' and 'I Know the Numbers' end weirdly, like a couple of seconds are missing from each song?

They shouldn't end weirdly. I've pm-ed you.

Personally I love 'Future' and your comment about the trumpet part seems bizarre to me, as it's one of the few Manics tracks with a trumpet part that isn't just a guitar solo played on a different instrument. It's a beautiful part of the song, and really makes it. Plus, Nick's vocal isn't really that bad, and it's much better than the one on 'Wattsville Blues'. If 'Future' had been a b-side, I'd now be asking why on Earth the band hadn't found room for it. Incidentally, I think I'd swap 'Broken Up Again' for 'The Descent', 'Distractions' for 'Hazelton Avenue' and 'Red Rubber' for 'I Think I Found It'. 'Evidence Against Myself' might squeeze on there when I listen to it more. |
