^ I thought 'jet off...' was an english expression, the sort of thing you'd see on holiday adverts in the 60s.
After a quick look the OED says it's brit and gives english references. |

I think 'jet' sounds far better than plane in the context of the song's lyrics. For me it's part of the song's charm and has a hint of nostalgia. Jet-setting and jetting-off aren't an uncommon phrases. Also think of companies like EasyJet and Jet2 which are British.
I think the use of both 'flight' and 'jet' works really well. The energy of the song picks up as the track progresses (kind of like a flight taking off), so using 'jet' in the second chorus makes the line sound sharper and more crips than when 'flight' is used. |
