"just the end of love" lyrics

to feel forgiveness, you gotta forgive
do you see the stars or the darkness begin?
you fight your war, i fought for my life
you pay your dues and i'll pay mine

it's not war - just the end of love
just like before but it's never enough
oh, it's never enough

you fight your war, i fight for my life
you pay your dues, and i won't pay mine
to feel forgiveness you gotta forgive
it's lost on me, i believe in revenge

it's not war - just the end of love
you've got the looks, but i've got the scars
it's not war - just the end of love
to feel some tenderness, do you have to give up?
do you have to give up?
oh, do you have to give up?

it's not war - just the end of love (just the end of...)
just like before, but it's never enough
it's not war - just the end of love
you weathered the storm but sheltered the loss
sheltered the loss
shletered the loss

i still like it, and thanks to mr bowlase for working out the last line.

awesome.

I knew those others weren't the right lyrics.

I really like 'You've got the looks but I've got the stars' for some reason...

I can't think, and I can't paint, I can't love!
And no one will, for money makes us up

Death to monetaries!

I'm pretty sure it's "stars". You can definitely hear the letter 't' being pronounced.

Weird that you can actually make out so many of the words. I was expecting a fiasco....

I love how Peeled Apples took ages to decipher, whereas this took a few minutes.

Though I like the song, Nicky's not always brave enough as a lyricist. I'm sure he means something with this statement but it's too vague too really get your teeth into because overall the verses and chorus are very light on depth. Very like Tolerate which, unless you don't know the quotes relate to the Spanish Civil War you're not going to guess it's about the Spanish Civil War. He's only given half a picture - vaguely personal, vaguely political, rather than firmly one or the other.

He's trying to eat the daffodil valley men going sideways, with his cake upside, down the shoot.

His lyrics have become more vague personally and politically since Tolerate. It's almost to the point of parody. I suppose though it shows that he believes in nothing and isn't willing to say whatever that nothing is.

"To feel some tenderness, do you have to give up?" sums it up I think. He wants to live his happy life with his wife and kids and leave all the "we're the last Marxist band left in Britain" stuff behind. Love being passion in this case the "end of love" is perhaps the end of passion?
