So... 2022 In Manics Years

"It's too soon!".
With their American tour and only Isle of Wight festival booked for next year. I think we can safely make a thread about 2022 as a Manics year.
We got the remaining TUVL dates earlier in the year. Arena support slots happened but sadly a festival with Sea Power supporting failed to materialise due to COVID.
They played Tolerate at a massive televised Ukrainian benefit event. Later America and Canada had a Winter tour just finished.
We got another playlist on Spotify full of covers. I admit I haven't been listening to that as much as the Duets one. What I listened to again and again was the Know Your Enemy reimagined album.
TUVL was nominated for a Welsh Music Prize but sadly never won.
James played guitar on a couple of tracks of the new Proclaimers album.
And Nicky's second album is apparently due next yea.
Did I miss anything out?

I think it's been a blinder of a year for the Manic Street Preachers! You'd think getting to number 1 last year would have been their last bit of activity.
Once again didn't see them live myself.
How do you think it's been for yourself as a fan? Not worried about what's next because I know their next will happen.

Here in Korea, not much impact, as usual, from what I know.
Just me listening to a variety of their songs, singing along, as usual.

I was very happy to see some old regulars here, popping in to share their thoughts on KYE20! It's a pity we've moved to Facebook, Twitter, or the YouTube comments section... or just plainly moved on with our lives. I miss the good ol' days when FD was bustling with activity, online and offline friendships/feuds/tribute bands formed and everybody had a good time, maaaan!

So yeah, 2022 was certainly a blast when it comes to Manics years, but it's got nothing on, say, 2005

Last year felt like a bit of a triumphant year to be a Manics... with Covid disappearing there was a brilliant new album which gave them their first number one in decades. After which I managed to see them four times in relatively quick succession including my first live gig post Covid.

This year by comparison felt a bit more subdued for me personally - the Know Your Enemy re-release was great and a template for any band doing an anniversary box set. I got to see them once supporting the Killers but would have loved to have had some sort of proper UK shows. The US tour with Suede would have been brilliant to be at, but alas, time and money.

What do I hope for next year? A Spring tour for KYE followed by a new album and winter tour please! Although a few rarities, album tracks and b-sides shows would be the absolute icing on the cake!

Just the fact that I saw them twice this year, with suede, and that fantastic KYE reissue, while TUVL is still “fresh” makes this year absolutely fantastic for me.

Not a fan of calling a playlist on Spotify a release

Also had to rack my brain to remember if MSP actually played London as part of the TUVL tour. They did - Wembley Arena

A Nicky album would be welcome, as would something like the pleasant surprise that was Even in Exile

And of course, a new MSP album and some summer festivals.

To be fair I guess they did also release a digital-only compilation that you could buy (also called Sleeping with Plastic) alongside that playlist, so I guess you could count that as an official release if you stretched a bit.

Am I right that the only confirmed Manics action we've got for 2023 is the Isle of Wight festival?

As of right now, yes. But surely more to come either side of that date, in due course.

Didn't James confirm Nick is releasing his solo album this year?
