That's easy, "Deathpiss" is the most under-rated

On the basis of a really good album that is under appreciated it has to be Lifeblood for me.

It's a shame the band have fuck all respect for it.

JFPL because it's the best thing they'll ever produce, and whilst the critics noticed, the public largely didn't.

Lifeblood will breeze into victory of this poll easier than Usain Bolt in a 100m sprint...

GATS for me though. Often maligned but it contains Sleepflower, From Despair to Where, La Tristesse Durera, Life Becoming A Landslide and Roses In The Hospital – five fucking great tracks.

The critics were all over it though weren't they? Don't think I read a review below 4 stars. Was amazed when it didn't at least get a Mercury nod.

I never understood the point of willfully not promoting that record.

There is that... Lol.

But to me Lifeblood is two or three really strong tracks and a lot of 'meh'.... I've tried given the mad love it gets on here but I just don't get it.

I didn't consider JFPL under-rated because critically it was a resounding success as far as I could see, and I don't like a lot of Know Your Enemy.

Yes I agree, but I think if you asked even a fairly clued-up muso type (or critic) to mention the great MSP albums it'd be forgotten. The band themselves seem to be "resting" it as well, which is a real pity. I think it'll be remembered as THB's little brother, and I don't think that's fair - if anything it's much more mature/nuanced.

Lifeblood by a country mile. fuck knows why they shit all over some of the best lyrics (at least post-Richey) they have ever produced, and some of the best music they have performed ever.

Ah I see what you're saying. A lot of the reviews did seem to want it to be "The Holy Bible part 2" - particularly the NME. Shits that they are.

Lifeblood for me, but I do feel Postcards is underrated by alot of the fans as well. Journal I wouldn't really class as underrated as such. Was critically acclaimed and sold pretty well too.

JFPL was underrated to the extent that it wasn't given one mention as "album of the year" by any of the usual polls, despite the fact that it shitted on anything else that was released that year. otherwise, sensible reviews for it and as i recall pretty decent sales. it is certainly an album cherished by the majority of the fanbase.

PS., can someone hurry up and do a "most over-rated Manics album" poll, please? the fights on that one are going to be excellent.
