JFPL Wins second best cover of 2009 in Poll

The eye-catching sleeve for the latest album by British rockers Muse has been named the best record cover of 2009.

The artwork for The Resistance won the Best Art Vinyl prize, with Manic Street Preachers' Journal For Plague Lovers coming second in the online poll.

"The winning sleeves will be featured in an exhibition at the Art Vinyl gallery in the Selfridges department store in central London."

Bugger I just saw this.

Probably better cover than Muse but fair play.

Hats off, thats really something to come second. Lets face it Muse and their legion of fans were always going to win, the Manic's legion is obviously not as big as it used to be! But I do think the Manic's cover was the best cover and I shall pop down to see the gallery.

Well done Jenny Saville! Can't even remember what Muse's cover artwork looked like!

When I read this thread my first thought was "No, JFPL was best, then it should have been Fever Ray". Of course then I read the article and found that Fever Ray was third, so really just take Muse away and all's well in the world.

Apparently they only had about four thousand odd votes as there was a bit this morning on Today, they only mentioned who won it though.

Its a shame as with a bit more concerted effort they probably could have won the thing, which would have been a nice touch after all that supermarket nonsense.

Glad they finished second, but the JFPL cover is far superior to The Resistance.

Nice one! Second place is great, especially when you remember they didn't put out any singles (well, not really) and there was no epic promotion for it, so a lot of people wouldn't have known it. Gotta say I prefer the JFPL artwork to The Resistance's, but fair enough. Muse have a bigger fan base and voting is never without cheating, so yeah.. good for them!

Yay!

Damn. That Muse cover looks pretty lame, like a 5 year old drawing. I voted for the Manics in this to win, so I did my bit to get #2....doesn't mean much though.
