Old Manics Forums

I know this site has been around for years and years but I've been trying to remember which other MSP websites had forums back in the day. I spent a lot of time on staybeautiful.net (I think it was .net but may be wrong) in the early noughties but there were many sites dedicated to the band in the late 90s onwards and I'm sure some of them had forums. Anyone as ancient as me remember any specific sites?

If I remember correctly, Destroyed by Madness had a forum.

Archives of Pain was a good chat room back in the mid-late 1990s. Spent a lot of time on there.

Manics.co.uk was where myself and loads of others retreated to after the official forum was purged. It was also known as the black forum because of the black colour scheme. And it was home to some very unique personalities 😂

2001 the Manics site had a drum sample when entering chat room.
It is massively understandable why the Manics removed their forum!
I remember "Come to FD, we're better etc" to a lot of my posts.
Didn't know how New Posts worked so felt I was being targeted when my posts replied to.
I think it was around the time of Greatest Hits it got pulled? No, Lifeblood wasn't it?

Late 90s / early 00s the NME board used to have a dedicated Manics forum - I was a user there anyway, so that was my usual message board until that went down around 2003/4 or so.

Also remember one of the main P2P platforms in the early 00s offered micro chat boards for certain bands and topics, and there was a mini Manics community there, around the time of those initial KYE leaks. Don’t think it was Napster - got kicked off there, obviously, and I vaguely remember chat around that ban on whichever provider it was (Soulseek or KaZaA probably).

Definitely remember the top poster there went by the name of ‘reaper2’ (often wondered if it was any of you lot on here!)… also remember the singer from Miss Black America posting on it occasionally, and getting into an argument with him about some form of perceived Richey slight or something (maybe he said something in an interview, or nicked a lyric or something?).

alt.music.manics was my favourite one. Still alive, in a sense.
Stay Beautiful was very much the FD of its day
I'm pretty sure we had a #manics chatroom on IRC
The official site's forum was wayyyy too active if that can be believed - felt like there was a post every 2 seconds with people talking about what they were having for tea that evening.

The official forum disappeared in the summer of 2006... it was a very strange place towards the end with a lot of the 'banter' getting out of hand with some of the worst offenders being the mods. Supposedly an official form Sony logged in randomly and within 24 hours the plug was pulled...

You don't mean the intravenous agnostic solo? I remember that when entering the website, playing over a gif of lightning. That was exciting, back in the day when a car got you forty rods to the hogshead and we all tied onions to our belts - it was the style at the time.

Yes, i remember this rumour! Honestly, i always found the place kinda hostile so never really stuck around so i can well imagine a sony rep getting an itchy trigger finger reading that.

Staybeautiful.net was my go to.. It was funny when they saw their arses over lifeblood and shut down in a temper tantrum. I wish I had screen shot the final posts. Amazing collapse and glad to have witnessed.

All we make is entertainment……..PFAYM. YAY.
