30/04/12 - X-Tra Zürich, Switzerland - Forever Delayed

I'm thinking of going to this date, I already have the ticket actually, so I thought it would be nice if FD users from Switzerland could help or give suggestions about a few things like transportation and accomodations and, obviously, the gig itself.

I can't speak German, and last night it took me half an hour to understand where the central station is...

Any help would be truly appreciated.

I'd love if you could suggest a place where to sleep, possibly near the venue and possibly not too expensive?
I'm probably asking for too much, but I made a quick search and found nothing cheaper than 50 euros per night, which is slightly expensive, compared to London hostels

Is the venue in the city center and, if not, is it well connected or will I need to book a cab or something?

I don't speak German and I had no problem in Switzerland last summer : everyone speaks English, and to be true their English was far better than mine. It's the same in Germany

This is true indeed. A German 8 year old kid probably speaks a better English than I do.
But I was on google maps yesterday and...

Have you visited the Zurich website ? http://www.zuerich.com/it/buchen.html

Last summer in Munich even the bus and subway drivers spoke to me in English. I was so ashamed : I was wondering how many Parisian bus/subway drivers would have been able to help a German tourist in English

Same thing here. Sicilian bus drivers would probably think that it's Swedish or something.
Although I'm not sure if they're aware that Sweden is a country.

You could stay at the Youth Hostel - I think a bed in a 4 bed-room is about 30€ per night. (Zurich is expensive..)
The venue is pretty close to the central station. You can walk there in about 10 minutes, or even less if you take a tram. Zurich is not that big, and you can get pretty much everywhere by tram, bus, train or foot. No need for a cab!

And if you still need help finding stuff on Google Maps - here's the central station, the venue and the youth hostel!

I live about half an hour from Zurich, but the school I go to is next to the venue, so I know the area quite well.
