The band have the chance to have a song which will be heard by millions and millions of people? A total no brainer. . . .something like judge yourself would be ideal.

Being involved with wrestling hasn't harmed Billy Corgan's career. It's just a bit of fun.

Agreed! The reason I find it so surreal and crazy that they would do this is that the WWE/WWF have had their own in house guy for pretty much all the music and entrance themes.

His name is Jim Johnston and I'm a massive fan of his work with WWE.

I believe he writes all the songs including The Game - but Motorhead just performed it as Triple H is a huge fan of that band - Motorhead have recorded 3 songs for Triple H and all of them are amazing. RATM has never performed a DX song. They were all written by Jim Johnston and recorded by The Chris Warren band (a guy that sings like Zack de la Rocha)

But yes...I am very excited about this.

I wonder how the royalties would work out?

You would think they would make a fair amount of cash with this - unless they reach some sort of agreement with the WWE.

How long's that been the case? I remember the days when it was all Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit and...

Those tend to be the exception rather than the rule.

A lot of WWE's entrance themes are done in-house by Jim Johnston, although there are always exceptions, such as Triple H (performed by motorhead, although it's based on a Johnston composition). Even rarer is for a wrestler to be using a pre-existing track as music, the current WWE Champion (for 355 days & counting!), CM Punk (see my sig) is one of those, having managed to get to use Living Colour's "Cult of Personality" as his currrent entrance music (He had it on the indie circuit for a while too):

Talking of Johnston though, this will always be his finest hour to me:

go and train up, then take bump after bump after bump for around 320 days a year, 45 weeks of the year - that gives you 40 days off over the year, not the average 25 days holiday + 52 weekends most get

staying on the road in hotels, travelling in cars, coaches and planes, staying away from friends, family and loved ones and seeing them for only 40 days (so just over a month) a year

learn more about the sport and you may respect it more

I don't dispute the fact they are athletes but it is clearly staged. I'd prefer the band to write a decent song for football or rugby. A real sport, not a pantomime.

with the amount of money circulating in the world of WWE / WWF (and i recall fondly watching it, was good fun), isn't there a chance that the royalties from doing this theme would earn them more than anything in their career to date?

I have more respect for some wrestlers than ANY footballer.

Bryan Danielson (aka Daniel Bryan in WWE), for example. He had one match where early on, he was hit in the face so hard he fractured his eye socket, and suffered a detached retina. He kept going and finished the match.

http://youtu.be/_uLgYl6aAt4

That makes him more badass than ANY footballing primadonna.
