Sucks that you couldn't get photos and stuff The security were getting a bit tetchy with us wanting photos at the National Treasures signing in Manchester, I don't know why because there really weren't that many people there, they finished signing in plenty of time. Glad people enjoyed it though, and that the band were in good spirits.

The NT signing in Birmingham was an utter shambles. Me and archivesofarevollover (Paul) queued since 10am and they finally turned up around 1:30 and it was massively rushed. It was over within 20 minutes! I know they did three signings that day, but surely they could have spaced out the signings a bit more?!

I've been to signings for another band and they're always a nightmare. Feels like a conveyor belt

It is, you can't spend more than 20/30 seconds with the artist, you're just ushered along by security. It's a shame really.

I've recently thought that it would be great if they could do a signing in the day in an HMV (or other store) for each city they tour in when touring around an album's release, like a few hours before their stage time.

Good shout, it would give the people queuing something to do. Although it would destroy the queues as well

I would think that would be even more rushed. Their heads would be full of the gig to come

Hiya Chloe , was nice meeting you also , haven't been to a gig since November so it was quite odd all this time after to be queuing for hours on end again for something!. With football matches (which I have done a lot of this year), you are allocated a seat so no need to arrive early to get a good spot before they're taken!.

Is fun meeting random people for the first time at a gig etc .

Yep, I got to Newbridge first to see my aunt and uncle l, which took 45 mins from Cardiff Central, left at about 7:15, then my aunt drove me to Blackwood just to see nan (Dad's mum) for an hour, before I went back to Newbridge. In a few hours I'll be getting the train back to Cardiff for a seven hour bus journey home, changing at London. Good thing I bought my iMac with me, as it mean uploading the album onto my iPhone, so the journey won't be too boring!. Train was 30 quid more expensive and this trip was last minute, otherwise buying train tickets in advance for Cardiff would be the same price!. Hope they sell merch at Shepherds Bush, the t-shirt I bought at Brixton in 2011 (white postcard one), is already a bit small for me!.

That's the best way to explain the 2003 Feeder signing at Oxford Street. Security threw down my mates CDs, then told us to keep an eye on our stuff in case we lose it!. A few fans complained to Feederweb.com about it, before an apology on behalf of HMV staff was issued.

Two years later, they came back to the same store, I ended up talking to a girl who was there to take pictures for the website, as she worked for Feederweb at the time and Riot Management, before the signing she told me that she asked the HMV security staff that the band were not in a rush to get the signing done, so pictures with them shouldn't be a problem, or something along those lines. In response they were incredibly rude to her and had a bit of a go, despite the fact she was at the time working for the band who were hiring their store paying their wages for the night!. One time, we had a right bastard on one side of the table and this nice guy helping us with our stuff and packing it away afters. There's alway going to be this cr@p at signings, but I just go anyway as it might be the only time I'll ever meet the band in question, although I've met Feeder and Biffy after gigs who were more than happy for photos and signatures.

Awh.

I'm glad you all enjoyed it, though it seems like a strange situation to be in. You want time to say stuff to the band and be polite (or mumble like an idiot as I did the first time I met them) not just to be rushed through. It's more like a bunch of people queueing up to get signed stuff for Ebay rather than actual fans interested in meeting their favourite band.

I wish that I'd gone to the Spillers signing for JFPL that James was at in 2009. I imagine that one wasn't too rushed for anybody who went? Would be good if they could have some signings in similar stores for Futurology.

The band were so relaxed, lovely and very chatty to us. My Japanese mate gave the Manics some amazing gifts. They were so grateful and they even signed a few Japanese names for Japanese fans who could not make the signing. Including for one fan who had to go straight back to Japan after the Number 6 Festival she was over for just 4 days.

I was going to introduce myself by name in the hope they'd sign it with a dedication, as it was obvious they were not allowing pictures with the band, but I thought that would mean taking it a little bit longer with each CD sleeve, so ultimately didn't (didn't think the security would not let the last 3 things get signed).

Left Cardiff at 13:00, got to London at 16:35, a little bit late as roads were closed, then got the last bus at 18:00 hours returning at 20:30. The last bus had its air con broken, so was roasting for all that 2 hours 30 min!.
