For the lazy ones:

“I hope we can manage to record an entire film soundtrack, cross that off the list. I hope I can walk the coast of Wales unbroken before I get to 50, cross that off the list. And I’d like to get to the Manics’ 15th album and cross that off the list. Then I’ll see how I feel when I get to 50.”

film soundtrack sounds cool. 3 more albums sounds very cool. He'll carry on after 50.

Yes, hope so. Not sure about the soundtrack though... More worried about the film than about their soundtrack.

I'm guessing the film soundtrack counts as one of the 3, meaning that and 2 albums in the 5 years following Futurology... but yeah, good news.

Jesus Christ!
I'm afraid I have to stop both listening to their new stuff and reading this forum otherwise I'll lose all my respect to the band I still do have.

No, I think it counts as a different one. It has to or the news are not so good

A good independent film with a largely instrumental soundtrack would be lovely.

I was worried I wouldn't like Manorbier but it's great

It would be an album of original music... not sure why it wouldn't count! I think The Virgin Suicides is considered one of Air's albums, etc.

But time will tell! I'd be quite happy for them to put out 5 albums in the next 6 years, as long as they could maintain a high standard. Aah, there's the traditional FMF fear when discussing future material.

that means it would be in the pipeline which I doubt. A film soundtrack would be outside their contract I would've thought

A soundtrack has no tour so as humm said it's probably outside the contract.

Film soundtracks are excellent, as are non-soundtrack albums that still sound cinematic enough to be so anyway (Swans' Soundtracks for the Blind leaps to mind). I'd love for them to do one.
