NEW CD

"STAMMER ORATION"

a new cd of spoken word and soundtracks.
following on from the success of 1999 release of "commemoration and amnesia" patrick releases "Stammer Oration"
a new 14 track cd of new poems set to new music. Collaborations with James Dean Bradfield, Nicky Wire, Billy Bragg, Rhys Mwyn, Martyn Joseph, Amy Wadge,Beverley Humphreys, Steve Balsamo, Defianceofgod,Lethargy, New State Radio, Henry Priestman, Dean Meyrick, Les Davies,Bethan Nia, Greg Haver, Ian Devine, Perigo Minas and others. It promises to be an exciting, innovative and provocative work that deals with many of the issues patrick wrote about in his last book whilst pushing the boundaries of words and music to find a new expression that bears witness to the human condition and all its failings and all its beauty.

Well the last one was pretty poor outside the JDB contributions and 1-2 others so maybe I'll just save myself the major trouble and just try and hear the MSP-related stuff again while leaving the rest be.

I dunno - I wouldn't buy it if you want manics sounding stuff, I think if people buy it because of that connection they are bound to be disappointed. I like Patrick's work, so I'm keen to buy it.

I agree with this, I saw him at Leeds Festival (with about 50 others) in 1999 and he was pretty damn good.

Well yeah. I wasn't really expecting any Manics-like material from the debut outside the JDB tracks but gave it a go anyway for the fun of it, found it insufferably dull (and Patrick's poetry is pretty pish IMO too so that didn't help either).

I really like Patrick's stuff so this sounds good. Be great if the Hay line up is good, might just go again this year.
Its always interesting to hear other stuff by JDB and Nicky.
