Frankly no online metric can be trusted. It's also arguably not where MSP's audience is (mostly.) They'd get more traction out of radio or TV ads for a casual audience.

Heard a Manics ticket advert on Absolute Radio yesterday afternoon. They obviously played the wrong ad as it was for the Everything Must Go tour in 2016!

Interesting that they've gone for a major arena tour this time round. Having seen them at mainly smaller venues in recent years, not crazy about seeing them in more cavernous places like Wembley Arena.

Wire told they fell in love with arena's again since EMG20. You can predict now that they'll fall in love with smaller venues in 2019 or so

Manics drummer browbeaten by faceless pressure group into pulling an ad for their new album in the Daily Mail shock!!
http://www.nme.com/news/music/manic-...futile-2164400 Will Stop Funding Hate then go on to stop people funding extremist ideology both National and Islamic? The fuck they will! All papers and most TV and alternative Internet stuff is bullshit anyway. If you believe a tenth of their shit you deserve everything you get. And of course the group doesn't want censorship or the newspapers to be pulled from sale (Check the criticism entry on this https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stop_Funding_Hate) so... Just want certain bands and companies not to advertise in papers? But that's not sinister. The ends justify the means. Omelettes cannot be made without their integrity of their structure being compromised. It's people like that which make me wish the UK had Ted Nugent type people. As it is, let's welcome our new doublespeak! Resistance seriously is futile. |

I don’t see a problem with expecting the Manics to not advertise in vile racist tabloids.

I think it's slightly insulting to suggest that Sean was brow beaten. Seriously, would he really say 'not in my name' if he didn't mean it? Aside from the fact the Mail wilfully misreported the Oxford Street incident online less that 24 hours ago.

Probably better not to do it at all....if they even have the power to stop it.

The band is achieving mass communication in unexpected ways.

It was purely their record company's decision - the band makes the music and are a big enough band to not be consulted at to where the adverts go. Maybe it's something their manager should've been aware of, but even that is small stakes.

I would have thought previously they would have loved to be sticking it in the face of daily mail readers.

Sad that a handful of retweets and a lazy yet typical journalistic copy and paste from Twitter in a desperate attempt to appear relevant amounts to a 'campaign' in any meaningful or traditional sense of the word.
It'll be forgotten in six months' time. Anyway - a new album, you say? Wow!
