Know Your Enemy...and later singles ADVICE

Hi,

VERY GEEKY QUESTION FOLLOWS!

I'm currently in a debate on another website (discogs.com) about the physical releases of these singles. I remember the CDs being released as CD1 and CD2, despite not being printed on them. I'm convinced I read a pre-release postcard sent out to the mailing list detailing info about this too, but all of my postcards are buried in an attic. Can anyone please dig out their copy or any other actual adverts/posters and upload them please? (Please cover up your address though).

Much obliged!

-m.

The Lifeblood singles definitely did and with the exception of Found That Soul /So Why So Sad, I'm pretty certain the KYE ones did too.

The official site lists them as CD1/CD2s

The KYE singles didn't actually say CD1/CD2 on them, but they essentially were. The catalogue numbers follow a pattern:

Let Robeson Sing
"(CD1)": 671773 2
New B-sides

Let Robeson Sing
"(CD2)": 671773 5
Remixes etc

Ocean Spray
"(CD 1)": 671253 2
New B-sides

Ocean Spray
"(CD 2)": 671253 5
Remixes etc

There by the Grace of God was labelled CD ONE / CD TWO / CD DVD with a similar pattern for the cat. numbers

The Lifeblood singles had stickers on, as you can see on the official site link. They also had CD ONE / CD TWO / DVD printed on the discs themselves, and on the spines of the CD cases.

The SATT singles, YLAINE/A/IS all had CD ONE / CD TWO on the spines of the CD cases only, (though unusually the IS CD TWO had a lower cat.number than CD ONE - CD ONE: 88697159332 vs CD TWO: 88697159322). You can also tell from the closeness of the cover image which is CD ONE and which is CD TWO.

Hope that all helps.

Thanks guys, glad we all agree. The KNE ones, does anyone have info on them? The site I'm on needs evidence and I can't find anything. Even the official site has been rubbished saying "retrospective" listing isn't strong enough as a citation.

Any other links too? I've got the "Everything" book too, but I think that only goes up to the Everlasting in the version I have...

I think the whole thing is a bit silly, I mean there are two CDs of the same single release, released on the same day, what are you supposed to call them? lol.

But if they need it printed on the actual release I guess that's their rules.

If you did want more evidence, then you can look on the wayback machine's captures of the official site, where Ocean Spray and Let Robeson Sing's singles referred to CD-01 and CD-02 (with MC for the OS cassette and 12" for the LRS … 12") at the time they were released (You can even see they added the LRS page in the same format after the OS listing between captures, strongly indicating that these are not retrospective listings, but on the site during the singles initial releases as part of their promotion):

You can click the links on that page within what is retained of the menu system, or here they are on their own:

http://web.archive.org/web/200110042...item.php?id=39

Porco (nice film choice btw). That is brilliant what I was after!! I wish more bands kept archives of this nature for this purpose! I knew I wasn't mad and that everyone in the world, outside of discogs, knew these releases to be cd 1 and cd 2!!

Thanks also to theoriser with the pics. It's a shame some of the posters don't have more info on them detailing exact track listings. I'm sure I received postcards saying as such.

If anyone come across more, please pop em up for the world to see!

Oh, it's not the band's doing, it's the wonderful work of the Internet Archive:
http://archive.org/about/faqs.php#The_Wayback_Machine

So there may be many old bands' sites hanging around that they took captures of if you want to give it a try at http://archive.org/web/
