Manics Opening Tracks

As the other thread made me wonder, they know how to start an rocking album but when they start with a subtle moment it's a bit missleading(Send Away the tigers title track and It's not war). But they made it right with Elvis Impressionator.

I wish the sample of Yes were a bit more shorter like Peeled apples, but that's the way it is.

All opening tracks are basically some of their best songs. The Everlasting and It's Not War are the only two I can take or leave. The rest, Elvis, Found That Soul and Peeled Apples especially, are class.

I much prefer the intro tracks as to the closers. I was particularly happy with the intro to the new album and think it is one of the strongest on the album

Agreed. I love the whole "This is what the album's about, so sit up and listen" vibe it gives off.

Still in two minds about the disembodied vocal that kicks off Rewind the Film...

Gonna be a fanboy now but I think every opening track works!
They do all set the tone of each album IMO

Of, forgot about 1985 and Sleepflower, I do love them. Sleepflower reminds me that there are other insomniacs out there than just me

Ready for Drowning should have been the opening track of TIMTTMY.

I think all of the openers are the right ones for their prospective albums. Can't think of one that I change for another song on the album anyway!

Apart from The Everlsting all the openers work perfectly and in many cases they are the best track on the album. They should have kept the original tracklisting of TIMT with Ready For Drowning instead of The Everlasting, which is found on many promos.

what they should actually have done is start TIMTTMY with Prologue To History and shuffled the rest oft he tracks down (and maybe allowed SYMM to fall off the end and replace PTH as the b-side to tolerate - NLY would have been an awesome closer to that album)....all the other openers are amazing, bar none.
