Doesn't look like the Manics will ever get a Brit for outstanding contribution...

as the category has been axed.
Shame cos if Oasis can get it I don't see why the manics shouldn't

Who really cares? We know how awesome they are. Plus, it would only result in a shit "best of" being compiled to cash in on the award.

Oasis were Worldwide heroes pretty much. Manics weren't.

Not saying the Manics shouldn't get the reward but Oasis were on a plateau the Manics never got close to fame wise *shrug* and as counterlanguage said those awards are doss.

It's a shame it's gone. I'm sure it'll be back the year after though and it rarely made any sense e.g. Robbie Williams gets it before George Michael etc

Perhaps its just more of a sign that there is nobody to give it too this year! Saying that If Robbie Williams has one they are probably just giving them away... Have Jamiroquai got one?

Ha ha they're running out of bands to give it to, thats why its been axed. Sign of the times...bands get dropped if they're second album fails to sell enough.

Brits are shite anyway. The kind of award that makes me facepalm if a band I like gets them.
I'm glad.

The Brits have always been a laughable music biz suck-fest dominated by corporate wankpots and dreary R 'n' B wannabee's. The only major award that ever counted for squat was IMHO, the NME Godlike Genius Award. Although even that has far more to do with which A&R company the magazine is kissing the ass of that week...

It seems fitting that the last one went to Robbie Williams. The bottom of the barrel already had a hole in it.

Yes, but a turd in a Kenco is infinitely nicer than cream in a Starbucks ...

Always nice to see the Manics win any kind of award as I feel really proud of them They don't get much these days, I think maybe about 4 in the last 11 years or so. Better than nothing.

Robbie was the British pop face of the late 90s to the early 00s. Hush up.
