We’re delighted to announce that, just before the guys head out on the road, we are joining forces with the band’s label, Columbia Records, to give you the chance to catch the band live, in a very rare and very intimate setting. On Monday the 27th September, The Manics will play an exclusive gig at Newcastle’s O2 Academy for only a few hundred lucky competition winners....and you could be there!

The Welsh trio – James Dean Bradfield, Nicky Wire and Sean Moore - have been together for almost 25 years and in that time have produced 9 highly acclaimed albums, toured the world several times and chalked up a lengthy list of Top 20 singles. They have collected countless awards and gathered a growing army of loyal fans plus a reputation as the most interesting, intense and inspirational band of their generation.

The band has just released the first single - “(It’s Not War) - Just The End of Love” from their tenth album entitled ‘Postcards From A Young Man’ which comes out on the 20th September and promises to be yet another work of art from the band. As bold, forthright and communicative as we’ve come to expect from a Manic Street Preachers record, it also sees the band move effortlessly into a more pop, mainstream sound.

The Manics will give fans one of the first live performances of their new material in Newcastle this month at ‘Manic Street Preachers Live’.

I know the Hammersmith thing caused a lot of debates, but I'm in favour of these competition or one-off events. Entered even though I'm already seeing them ten times on the tour.

There is also a smaller venue dubbed O2 Academy Newcastle 2. This venue is used for lesser known and up-and-coming acts. The smaller venue has a capacity of 400.

Would love to go but works getting in the way, shame. I'm always a bit warry about comps now as there always seems to be some regulars that go to everything and then inductry people and very few people who just want to go.
