TIMTTMY 20th anniversary tour?
What are the chances? Me and the mrs are praying for this to happen, simply because it brought us together 18 years ago! I would think so as it as the boys' 1st no.1 album, but you never know!

It'll be the biggest of their recent shows (Subject to change depending on how this year's shows were).
It goes without saying they're will be either extra musicians or they'll be limited to playing along with more backing tapes. If there was an option, I'd rather have a TIMTTMY20 box reissue than TIMTTMY20 itinerary. Even though I would obviously go to! |

When EMG20 was mooted I have to say I thought that they'd make a brilliant pair. Both are hugely popular with fans, both use strings and both are about the length of a decent gig when put together.
My thought was they could play TIMT first (since it's a bit of a downer with the exception of a few tracks) and then finish with EMG. I think with a full orchestra, and some nice big visuals taking on the common theme throughout that era with the stripped back visuals and big video screens. I think that would work pretty well. I'm not 100% sure whether TIMT on its own would work as a gig. I think if it was an "in full" style performance, they would have to change the order up to make that work. I saw Garbage do this with their debut in full and it worked pretty well for them. Although with the Holy Bible tour and The Everlasting opening the 2nd set, perhaps they were testing to see how that went down? We shall see.... It would suit Jimmy's voice a bit better than the shouty old stuff that much is for sure.

I'd absolutely love to see This Is My Truth in full, but I'll be surprised if it happens. Over the last decade or so, they've been more inclined to dabble with Holy Bible and Everything Must Go than they have This Is My Truth. Beyond the singles, and My Little Empire and Ready For Drowning getting brief comebacks it's not been that well represented, plus they've never played I'm Not Working or Be Natural.
I hope not, but I suspect our best hope might be more of a nod towards the album rather than a full performance, maybe they'll bring back You're Tender And You're Tired or summat.

The one Manics rarity I have ALWAYS wanted to hear was the rockin' version of Tsunami they have hinted at. They have to still have it somewhere.

I really just want a deluxe edition of the album. The Japanese 2CD one unforgivably leaves out Prologue to History (and Valley Girl, for completion) which means it's really not worth forking out for it. Be nice to have all the b-sides and some interesting curios all on the same album.

From the track listing for EMG20 I love how they weave the b-sides along the discs, so the potential running order for a TIMTTMY more or less writes itself.

I'm folding my arms and saying no to this. While it's still at the 'what if they...' dream stage. I'm getting it in early.

Had a bit more of a ponder on it. To be fair, I think it is highly unlikely that they would tour it. Jame says he finds this version of the band "hard to embrace." To me that sounds like a less strong, but similar critique to how they talk about Lifeblood. It was such a big seller they'd probably be mad not to do a re-release to make some coin. But if they do a tour, that also signals almost half a decade of retrospectives, which would be a bit of a creative full stop I think.
Either way, I think the tracklist almost writes itself Like SonofStopped says. I'd probably err slightly more towards the 10th version of EMG if they have the material. So a deluxe re-release rather than a full on 4 disc monster set. To me, it would/could/should be a celebration of the fact that the band were pretty much massively huge for a moment. If it was me doing the list I'd do something like this: Disc 1 (album remastered) 1-13 (you all know this bit) Disc 2 (Remixes, rarities & demos) Prologue To History Montana/Autumn/78 Black Holes for the Young Valley Boy Socialist Serenade Train in Vain (live) Buildings for dead people Inertia Creeps (JDB remix) << If You Tolerate This (Massive Attack Remix) << this was a remix swap, would be cool to put them together. The Everlasting (Stealth Sonic Remix) << the one from ForeverDelayed Tsunami (mega legendary demo) Demos/outtakes (maybe Masses at the end, not sure.) DVD T In the Park 99 in full Millenium gig Jools Holland/TV Clips (Brits, Euro TV etc) Interviews Song videos

I just want them to buy my leftover footage and do a Send Away The Tigers 10th Anniversary edition next year!

There is 0% chance of a TIMTTMY tour.
I'd say there is about a 1% chance of an anniversary re-issue of sorts. (Maybe a vinyl thing?) They will have a new album out 2017 and will no doubt tour it into 2018 so good chance of a few TIMT tracks sprinkled in the set. But yeah no more anniversary cash-ins now please. Just keep writing, releasing, and performing. That's what we love from the band and why we're all obsessed fans. |

You could add to that the Close Up documentary (with the full band live version of Black Dog at the end Quote:

Interesting to see the working order for the tracklisting there and I agree that it would be great to hear these demos. I'd have loved Black Holes to have been on the album, that's one of my faves, although given their subsequent dismissal of it I'm surprised it got this far. Wonder if the "almost finished" version of Tolerate is the "swooshless" version?
I do think a re-release is more likely than a tour if we get anything. |

Love the 'Manic Street Preachers Version' (its official title) of Inertia Creeps. Still play it often.
