It wasn't them who "disowned the album" and decided not to release a third single, it was the record label.

Ah, well I dunno. I just know that since then the band have hardly said a good word about the album. At the time, with God Save The Manics and these two tracks recorded, and the tour booked, it looked like they were prepared to release a single. Odd that they got a pair of number two singles from the album, and a third wasn't released.

Heh, the single choices of that album must've been discussed to death on here anyway so I'll not go there!

The band was prepared to release a single, yes, but Sony nixed it, just like they nixed album extras for Send Away The Tigers.

Weird.. Ah well, at least some of us got a free EP out of it, panic bought mine off eBay for about £30 a couple of weeks after the gig, ouch..

I know it's not the best source in the universe, but I'm sure I remember seeing a special edition of Send Away The Tigers listed for pre-order on Amazon... Don't know if the label tells them what to list or if they just guess sometimes.

It's been established a couple of times from various sources that it wasn't the bands decision.....though they hardly seem keen on the album more recently, but I suspect that is down to their taking to heart of public/media criticism that was really not valid or deserved. I also think they see a static crowd and think 'shit they aren't going for this at all', when if you went to a lot of band's shows the crowd doesn't move, but it doesn't mean they aren't loving every minute.

Very true, I don't hold with this idea that if you're not jumping up and down and barging into everyone else, you're not enjoying yourself.

Hi,

I have the Japanese obi release of SATT, it came with a bonus CD which had the following on it; I believe most of these were on the singles though:

Boxes and Lists
Welcome to the Dead Zone
Little Lost Girl
Fearless Punk Ballad
The Long Goodbye
1404
The Vortices
Anorexic Rodin
Heyday of the Blood
Lady Lazarus
You know it's Going to Hurt
Red Sleeping Beauty
Foggy Eyes
Umbrella; Umbrella (Acoustic); Umbrella (Remix)
Your Love Alone...Acoustic w/Nina
Design for Life; Everything Must; Motorcycle Emptiness; You Stole the Sun; (All live at the O2)

Also on the 1st CD they added: Love Letter to the Future; Morning Comrades; Send Away the Tigers (Acoustic)

Cheers,
J

Yeah, I've seen that Japanese release (and keep thinking about buying it every time I pass it in the shop here!). It would have been cool to see some of these on a UK release (or an American one, for that matter, though since we didn't even get the samples on our JFPL, that's probably asking too much ).

*shakes fist at Sony executives* No problem releasing Coldplay rubbish though!
Exactly, a crowd doesn't have to be jumping up and down all the time to be enjoying themselves. No wonder I'm always sweating buckets at Manics gigs! Give our poor feet a wee break will ya's!

God, I feel like I can do no right! I know, I should've just said I found it weird that there wasn't a third single released, for whatever reason and left it at that. I've already been told I was wrong, fair enough. No point telling me again.
