I'd probably take out one of the instrumentals and fit The Second Great Depression in there somewhere, the only properly good song on the album.

Also, always forget how much I like the 1404 lyrics, particularly 'still looking for the question mark, at least we've not yet reached the full stop'.

I love having an mp3 player in my car now, I have this same 'album' on a flash drive.

One of the best b-sides in a long time. I'd love for Nicky to release a book with all the bands lyrics in with notes on each song. That would be the best thing they could do.

The Manics have always been a great b-sides band but the Send Away The Tigers era is the only era where the b-sides actually make up a whole album of quality tunes on their own that are better than the decent tunes + shallow lyrics of SATT. There is so much more depth to the lyrics on these b-sides! And I'd forgotten just how orgasmically good the chorus to "Boxes and Lists" is.

If you've never been into making your own MSP compilations, put this album together and give it a go - I'd love to hear your opinions. And if you enjoy it and want a cover for it, feel free to use the one I've made.

EDIT: As it's a cover, I haven't included "Red Sleeping Beauty" but for the record it's fucking awesome
Love it, and totally agree, it's better than SATT.

At least with the upcoming release of the anniversary edition of SATT, I can finally have this album with all the tracks in high quality!

I'm going to revisit these b-sides soon as I don't remember them being so great. Some good tunes obviously, but not many would make it on to the album.

TIMT and KYE still me fav B-side era(s).

It makes a fine album; the Manics are on hell of a B Side band.

Two of my absolute favourites are the two instrumentals, opening and closing your collection. Brilliant, evocative music. Their instrumentals particularly over the last 10 years have been wonderful. Vorticists and YKIGH are two of the finest.

"Dreaming A City" is one of my favourite instrumentals.

Playing Boxes & Lists now. One of their best.

You're right that the b-sides to SATT are, collectively, far better than the actual album: Boxes & Lists, Red Sleeping Beauty (cover, of course, but still), The Vorticists, Anorexic Rodin, Heyday Of The Blood, Lady Lazarus, You Know It's Going To Hurt... astoundingly good.

I'll maintain to the day I die that it's a better album than SATT. And having all the tracks for it remastered is the only reason that I'll be buying the anniversary edition, as some of the MP3s I have of the vinyl only b-sides are not very good.

Yes, some of the vinyl-only b-sides sound distinctly poor in mp3. Same goes for the RTF b-sides.

"What Happened To The Blue Generation" is the exception for me as the low quality sound almost adds an extra layer of charm to it.

I agree. It works very well.
