I've just done Cardiff and Glasgow on this tour but I have to say I have'nt suffered from that horrid ringing in the ears I usually get after gigs

I suffered much more from ringing ears at the solo gig in the Garage last year.
Never wear ear plugs myself, but then I don't go to gigs that often and when I do, I don't stand right in front of the speaker stacks. But I would probably consider it.

I thought it was quiet then I realised I still have an ear infection. My ears are in pain constantly. I am going to buy ear plugs for the future, definitely.

these are deadly ...i never took any notice of ringing in my ears after gigs until last year i did a bit of research on tinnitus. scary stuff. definitely worth investing in a pair if you go to a lot of gigs. they cut out all the nasty noise but you can still hear perfectly.

Definitely load enough on Saturday in Cardiff. Thanks to a certain Mr Wire's Bass Amp's I had the classic right hand ear ringing and subsequent lack of coordination for a good few hours into Sunday - wouldn't want it any other way!
However maybe for the sake of my hearing I should occasionally change which side of the stage I aim for Ear plugs sound good in theroy but not sure I could bring myself to actually wear them at a gig. |

Yeah, I've started wearing ear plugs alot lately as I'm taking my hearing more seriously. also invested in some new headphones rather than a new pair of in ear ones as I listen to my mp3 player an awful lot! Get some decent ear plugs though, and as some one's already mentioned, the sound at gigs can sometimes be better/clearer. I use a pair called 'doc's pro plugs' if anyone's interested. Normally about £13 ish. I do have a fear of loosing them down the front at gigs though.

Where do you get fancy ear plugs from then? I can only ever find cheapo foam ones.

I'd probably worry about losing them too! Will have to invest in some though I think for when the next Manics tour is on the road!

They were fucking loud at Newport last year, seriously loud. That and Barrowlands 2001 were the loudest i've seen them i think. They never come across good at festivals though, always been very quiet everytime i've seen em do any festival. MOVE 2003 wasn't really a festival, that was pretty loud even at the back if i remember correctly. Still the best gig i've seen em do, mostly cos of a completely random set and the angry stage presence.
Edit: Just noticed this thread is two years old. Oh well... |
