If I wasn't already engaged I'd ask you to marry me based on that sentence alone.

well, KYE would get my vote. outside of Motorcycle Emptiness and You Love us, GT hasn't help up all that well over the years - i skip through the tracks a lot more than i do KYE. i suspect that will be something of a minority view, though....

One is my favourite Manics album... The other is a close call, actually.
- JFPL it is. |

I'll be with you in your minority then. GT fails hard.

I'm gonna go for JFPL. Love KYE too, don't get why people are writing it off.

Course not! You don't do drama. And what is more dramatic than dissing a Manics album?

Quote:
GT has a LOT of issues, it has great songs (Motorcycle, Slash N Burn, You Love Us, Methadone Pretty, Crucifix Kiss, Condemned to Rock N Roll, Stay Beautiful) but also has some utter chaff (Damn Dog, Tennessee, Born To End, Repeat, So Dead) which gives it the same issue as KYE. However whereas I like KYE (it's a 7/10 album) for its production, the production on GT is utter gash, it makes the great songs sound merely good and makes the bad songs sound like someone got hold of pro tools for the first time and recorded widdly riffs a lot. So basically GT is hindered by its awful production (and I believe production is like a score in a film, it makes good scenes great and can save a poor scene) whereas KYE's production, despite it being rough suits it perfectly. There, I'm not a hater, I'm just a serious critic of anything I love

In the real World liking all the albums a band puts out is more dramatic and silly to me (this goes for nearly all bands who've put out more than 2/3 albums ), just given that no band is perfect. Music is as inconsistent as poetry.

KYE is really good in my opinion, I just think the vocals are a bit crap. I don't know if its the production, but James just sounds shattered in every song, and whilst that works a bit for songs like His Last Painting (a really underrated song), it doesn't do much for songs like Guernica and Dead Martyrs where he should sound a bit more enraged.
But also, Freedom of Speech Won't Feed My Children is better than any song on JFPL. KYE wins.
