New Album: What Don't You Want?

Ok we've got a post for what people would like the new album to be like what don't people want it to be like?

For me I don't want to go back to a bland kind of "comercial" sound. I much prefere the tone and sound of JFPL and THB and would love them to have the confidence to keep going in this way. I really don't want it to be just another lost album which often happens after the Manics have had a great album.

What don't you want? What would disappoint you most?

Dodgy pianos (think Found That Soul) or dodgy synths (a la So Why So Sad)

I don't want the band to take any notice of what anyone else wants. (Which puts them in a quandary if they ever read this post.)

I don't want to have to come on here and moan that all the songs are verse-chorus-verse-chorus-solo-chorus and essentially the same old formula. Again.

Also, I don't want anything remotely like Underdogs.

Basically, I just don't want SATT2.

Me neither. No dodgy lyrics this time as well.

A bit of a commercial sound would be fine if it was comprised of great songs.

I don't want songs that stop unsatisfactorily soon eg. JFPL. Repeat those choruses with abandon, updates on Rudi, whistling etc.

For the album to lose it's heart halfway through, a la GATS, TIMTTMY, Lifeblood. If they must have filler, at least spread it through the whole album rather than all at the back.

Yeah I don't see why they can't mix SATT and JFPL, a kinda commercial rock, with grit.
I mean there's nothing wrong with commercial
Just not bland meaningless indie pop

Yeah, it's not so much the verse-chorus-verse-chorus bit that's offensively dull (although it can be), it's the last third that's been ruining Manics songs for a loooooooong time now. There are some songs where it's perfectly fine and appropriate, but then there are many other songs like Peeled Apples where you may as well reach for the skip button after the second chorus.

Once again, it has to be said, ever since all those singles were butchered for Forever Delayed, James has been obsessed with writing radio edits as album tracks. IT HAS TO STOP!

I don't want all the tracks to be the same pace. That's what sunk Lifeblood.

Can't really think what I don't want to be honest. More Nicky lead vocals than James' would upset me alot! As Relic said really. You do what YOU WANT TO DO guys! I'll be happy with that!
