Like the oriental edge to Midnight Sun very much! The music for EWYS is absolutely fine, it's Nicky's droning I can't stand!

Can't understand the hatred for the track - it's unusual for the Manics but it's hardly way out there, and all the comments about it giving people a headache and making them want to vomit...I mean, honestly, get out more.

Favourite b-side from the 'Postcards' single is 'Midnight Sun' though, which has grown and grown and grown on me. They're a great band now, but what a band they were in 2001.

I suppose I'm lucky. I like music that's beautiful (i.e. the best of the 'Postcards' album) and music that's ugly ('EWYS') and don't feel the need to chose between them.

Oh, and to all the haters moaning about how 'EWYS' is negative about internet culture - the first words of the title are 'Engage With' not 'Reject'.
Go Phil!

I heard this song earlier in the week...it's mental!

Not really sure if I actually like it or I'm just really excited that it doesn't sound like the boring crap they've been toiling with recently.

The guitars are ace - friggin lovely actually, but the computerized vocals are annoying, then again, so are Wire's unprocessed vocals. And that continuous pinging sound is enough to make you want to bang your head against something quite solid. Grrrr...it's awful! Overall however, they get brownie points for doing something a little more progressive and creative. I'm not sure if I'd want their next album of new material to sound exactly like this song (I'm sorry, but it screams "let's fuck around" b-side to me), but it's a step in the right direction, as far as I'm concerned.

Haha! Sorry Tracey, but other than Golden Platitudes (a killer tune all around), it's one of their worst albums. Eclipsed in blandness only by SATT.

Have to agree to disagree on that one Shannon! Nicky needs to stop 'singing' though! Gah!

I got your names muddled up for a moment there, and, seriously, it was like mind=blown.

Sorry for the bump, but I just wanted to state how there won't be many tracks this decade that are half the awesomeness of Engage With Your Shadow.
