Nicky Wire says the band are very happy to be playing the event again:

"I think it was 2007 we did it in Manchester. First gig we'd done for quite a while, we did a couple of new songs but I do remember being particularly nervewracked. The Magic Numbers had been on before us and the photographer Mick Rock was waiting as we went on and he told me I had a good jacket on so that made my evening."

The Welsh band are headlining the London leg this year at 02 Academy Brixton on Wednesday December 15. Nicky told Xfm he is pleased to be heading back to the venue especially after they had to cancel last week's gigs there because of illness:

"We've done it a lot of times over the years and I think in London it is one of the best definitely. We've pretty much played every venue I can think of in London from the tiniest pub to the O2 arena and Brixton Academy scores very high."

And hopefully fans might get a Christmas treat from the Welsh trio: "Hopefully trying to persuade James to play an acoustic version of 'Last Christmas' which he does very rarely but when he does do it it is quite spectacular."

Hmm... seriously considering this!

Pro's: Brixton! And other acts I might not have seen otherwise

Cons: hits set, and seeing them again in the same venue 2 weeks later

RARELY?! He does it every time there's a hint of a December gig! Ghost Of Christmas would be a rarity for crying out loud

I wish they'd stop announcing or rescheduling gigs when I have no money! Dunno whether I'll bother with this one yet. I went to the one in 2006. Great gig.

That's what I thought when I heard it. Does Nicky actually listen to his own gigs? He doesn't seem to.

Won't be bothering, not unless it was an off-the-radar venue or something. I already have three Brixtons in a row coming up - Interpol, MSP, Band Of Horses.
