Why is being number one important? to anyone?
and postcards wouldn't have had number ones if they'd skipped KYE and lifeblood. Fact.

These platitudes better not dissolve I want em to get airplay, I find it impossible to think of that not being a single.

no, getting rid of the good albums doesn't mean the bad one will suddenly become good by comparison.

The problems is a lack of good singles on PFAYM. I'm not a massive fan of SATT, but at least Indian Summer and Autumnsong sounded big and single-y.
They ought to go off at a tangent and do something like releasing Ghost Of Christmas as a single, at least that sounds like single material. Shame it's too late.

I've now got an image in my head of Nicky, riding a Tomahawk towards the camera, miming excitedly to the lyrics.
Funny then how many music rags commented in their reviews that PFAYM has radio hits all over it... How many copies did SKON sell and where would it have charted 3 years ago I wonder

If it's Golden Platitudes then I can only conclude that the selection process for single releases consists entirely of pulling names out of a hat.

It would have added some additional sales album wise, yes, but in the singles charts it wouldn't have done as much as Sony has proven before, if the single isn't catching on, they'll ignore it, if the second gets ignored, they'll think about canning album promotion, they may give a third chance but who knows right now.

KYE had decent chart success anyhow, PFAYM is just a single-less album in the minds of the public and a good percentage of us fans and I say this as someone who disliked SATT, but that had a good selection of singles on it which got them fans in the public again. Even JFPL got played a fair bit on the radio so it's not like the public forgot they existed.

Anyhow, caring about the charts is redundant to me, a song getting number 1 doesn't make it any better.

I'll laugh if they do have a third single and it's that.

I don't mind it as a song but it's mindboggling if anyone considers it a singles oppertunity.

Don't see why GP couldn't make it as a single.

Definitely! As I've said in another thread somewhere it has the same impact on me as Radioheads Fake Plastic Trees (without saying they sound similar or anything!).
