Steve Brown interview

Probably old news but I've only just spotted it; http://www.repeatfanzine.co.uk/inter...ve%20brown.htm some interesting stuff in there, so Nicky did play on the album after all! Would've posted this in the Generation Terrorists discussion thread but there doesn't seem to be one for some reason.

Great in-depth interview, loved it. Very interesting read. I've read a few things on that site in the past and everytime my eyes always get messed up when reading the huge articles with the black background and white text...

I didn't realise that he'd produced SIP. Even he had forgotten. I thought the band produced it themselves.

You can change that. Go to your browser's "Tools" menu, click on "Options" or "Internet Options" or whatever is there that's similiar. There you can override the webpage's fonts, colors, etc with something more readable, like black text on a white background.

"Also, you can add this to the end of the article, if any budding Manic Street Preachers want to make a debut album, then they can get in touch with me through my website or through Facebook.”

You get the impression he barely remembers the album, probably thought it would bomb, was at the tail end of his career and doesn't really keep in contact with the band at all.

A bullshitter. Much like most producers

WAIT a fucking minute, I hope Steve Brown has remembered that right, because I swear he said that the fuck off in Stay Beautiful was "mixed" out rather than not recorded.

"we recorded it at the Manor and James’ vocals right in the middle of the chorus are, “Why don’t you just…” with the guitar riff in there. But originally, it was “fuck off.” They sung that when they played it live, but when we came to mix it, the record company were just about to turn up, so I took the “fuck off” out, and so we had the complete production without the “fuck off” right in the middle of the chorus (laughing). I’d already sort of engineered the guitar line to get more accent there"

Add an original mix to the tracklist of an anniversary GT then!

He does keep in touch, I've spoken to him a few times on the phone and he's mentioned how he speaks to them every now and them or sees them around.

I heard elsewhere that it was recorded and when the label heard it they wanted 'fuck off' to be removed because they thought it was single material.
