Hello everybody - this is my first post on the forum, looking forward to contributing regularly. A good place to start is here, I guess..

1. The Holy Bible
2. Lifeblood
3. Everything Must Go
4. Journal For Plague Lovers
5. Futurology*
6. Generation Terrorists**
7. Gold Against The Soul
8. This Is My Truth Tell Me Yours***
9. Send Away The Tigers
10. Postcards From A Young Man
11. Rewind The Film****
12. Know Your Enemy

* may well rise higher in my list as time goes by
** too long, too flabby; a more concise track listing would've resulted in a better album
*** ditto
**** Only the outstanding title track (one of my favorite MSP songs) kept this off the bottom of the list

Lifeblood, Futurology and The Holy Bible are masterpieces.
Generation Terrorists, Send Away The Tigers and Postcards From A Young man are not.
Everything in between is very fascinating - and I am immensely greatful to have it - except for Journal For Plague Lovers, which I just don't understand. One day I'm gonna have to ask you guys to explain it to me.

THB is probably the one I'd consider their masterpiece but it's not necessarily my fave. At the moment:

1. Everything Must Go
2. The Holy Bible
3. Generation Terrorists
4. Journal for Plague Lovers
5. Futurology
6. This Is My Truth Tell Me Yours
7. Rewind the Film
8. Lifeblood
9. Know Your Enemy
10. Gold Against the Soul
11. Send Away the Tigers
12. Postcards from a Young Man

Until and including Lifeblood on my list I fucking love all of them and past that I'm not so bothered but still like them/some songs at least.

Like other's have said my order changes very often. Very difficult to choose between some of them and sometimes an objectively 'better' album comes nearer the bottom in my subjective 'favourite' list. There's not a Manics' album I really dislike but here goes...

1 The Holy Bible
2 Everything Must Go
3 Journal For Plague Lovers
4 Futurology
5 Generation Terrorists
6 Lifeblood
7 This Is My Truth Tell Me Yours
8 Postcards From A Young Man
9 Rewind The Film
10 Send Away The Tigers
11 Gold Against The Soul
12 Know Your Enemy

Notable how Send Away The Tigers is so far down in many lists - I remember looking at the review thread and seeing mostly votes for 8-9/10. Interesting how much opinions change over time while other albums almost always retain their 'value'

SATT was a great era and an exciting tour, but I don't think many hold the album as a classic. It was a 'recharged batteries' moment.

Futurology may even win the battle for number 3 when some time has passed.

Good point. A return to form, more cathartic album that helped them no end to usher in their most critically acclaimed period as a band. Gave them the opportunity and confidence to do certain things eg JFPL they might otherwise have decided against. As you say not a classic, but extremely important.

I think Futurology needs some time to rest before I know where abouts I'd put it.

I've seperated my list into 4 groups. The order of albums in a group changes, but the albums never fall below the bottom of their group.

JFPL
GATS
GT
THB

KYE
F
EMG

SATT
L
TIMTTMY

PFAYM
RTF

warning: above list may be subject to change
And indeed it has, as Lifeblood has shot up my chart (after repeated listening)
1) THB
2) GT
3) KYE
4) EMG
5) GATS
6) F
7) LB
8) RTF
9) TIMTTMY
10) JFPL (I don't know what it is about JFPL. I love most of the tracks on the album, but it just hangs around the bottom of the list, clinging on to the top ten. My major qualms about it are the 'second verse the same as the first' thing and the hard-to-listen-to generic really brickwalled alt rock production)
11) SATT
12) PFAYM
