Futurology - Delux Edition

Well what does anyone else think about this? Got to say its very glossy and beautifully put together but I was expecting something more. There's no additional quotes, information, or things we haven't seen before. I love the demo's and the aditional tracks but think the book itself lacks something.

It’s pretty much what I expected to be honest. It’s nice though, I like it.

There was a point to the JFPL book, and the PFAYM one was the best thing about owning that album*, but everything since has been book packaging for the sake of it. And they still scratch the CDs.

*specifically this...

I always thought that "Petty Hate Machine" bit was pretty fucking pathetic to be honest.

Agree about the case scratching the CDs though. That is annoying.

The next page was dedicated purely to tom drums if I remember rightly.

My Manics CDs all get losslessly ripped straight away these days so my CDs don't get much of a chance to misbehave.

Think they were going for a 'arty/futuristic' type vibe with it. I love the album cover anyways!

Not. The exclusive tracks are on the much cheaper Japanese standard edition and the book is exactly the same as the UK deluxe release.

Well, didn't the band always say how they wanted to release an album coated in sandpaper so it would destroy the discs within and anything stacked next to them? They're just doing a more polite version of that.

Perhaps they are just very slowly completing their manifesto. They might just sell sixteen million albums and headline Wembley Stadium yet...

We can live in hope rather than expectation!

It's a shame the inside is a let down - ok there's some good quality photos of the band, berlin, art and architecture but once you've seen them once that's it really. As you say wireobsessed, some quotes or more of the lyric sheet scribbles would have definitely been appreciated. However the book version does look nice especially when stacked together, is well made and the demo versions and extra tracks make it worth the extra outlay for me.

The booklet is just them moping around Berlin. Nothing to see here, move along etc.

Got it today in the post. Nice package as always, few band shows of them in Berlin which I like to see, lyrics in which is good, but there's like 8 full pages (sorry, just counted, it's 12 pages) of wasted nothingness! Complete waste of paper, reminds me of Nicky's crappy photograph book with all the empty white pages. Gonna play the 2nd CD later on though
