Has the GT re-issue changed your view on any of the songs?

What with re-masters, demo versions, live acoustic versions etc, has your opinion on any of the songs from Generation Terrorists changed?

Methadone Pretty is a song I've never really paid attention to - GT is a long old beast and I've often got to Stay Beautiful and then made liberal use of the skip button. However, since I've heard the acoustic version, I've really liked it and it has brought the song in to a new light for me - can't get the bloody thing out of my head now, either!

I now like Condemned even more than before, after seeing James beat the shit out of it at the Rough Trade gig (on video)!

Yes - for years GT has been a bit of an unknown quantity to me... if you'd asked me to hum 'Condemned to Rock n Roll' to you before last week I wouldn't be able to... I literally couldn't remember most of the album. The acoustic show actually helped a bit there to uncover the real chords and the actual "song" in each one behind the wall of 80s chug. The production is so offputting that I basically never listened to the album from top to bottom.

Methadone Pretty has always been one of my faves off the album! Can't say the reissue has changed what I think about the songs because I love them anyway!

Crucifix Kiss, Methadone Pretty and CTRNR have always been three of their best songs.

My mind hasn't changed on anything other than thinking their 80s songs could have been contenders if Richey had been on hand to write the lyrics. Poleaxed has one of JDB's catchiest choruses.

Well, with its demo - "Colt 45" - "Spectators of Suicide" makes another sense: I guess there will be a revamped interest in S.E. Hinton books?

Other than that, Generation Terrorists is the album I listen to more together with The Holy Bible, so no great re-discoveries.

Simon Price is right: it is not a perfect album, but it makes a lot of sense as it made more than 20 years ago.

And check this out: http://www.tangents.co.uk/tangents/m...01/hinton.html

so, I'll just quote it. Absolutely stunning, and the acoustic version he sang at Rough Trade wouldn't have looked out of place at all in the so much more celebrated The Holy Bible.
I just remembered that I woke up this morning singing the ''I accuse history, I accuse...'' bit in my head the way he did last week

Methadone Pretty from the demo, and probably Born To End from the remaster are getting a lot more plays than i'd imagined they would.

Methadone Pretty is a great tune but I guess was always hidden amongst the crap at the end of the album.

Also Sorrow 16 (and possibly Democracy Coma) should have been on the album.

I've also rediscovered my love for LBN - The "you are pure, you are snow..." outro is the best moment on the album for me.

Was always a great album, and the reissue is unlikely to change that for me.

Takes me right back to 1992, when it was pretty much on shared rotation with Nevermind at the comic shop I worked at.

Now there's a coincidence. I was thinking exactly this on the bus. GT was an album I liked but could probably live without aside from the obvious singles. Condemned to Rock and Roll was particularly off my radar. After Rough Trade i fucking love it. Funny how a live rendition can change your mind about a song ...ARE YOU LISTENING MANICS??? Revol at the 02 and now this one. Ever hopeful for more varied setlists me.

Seriously, this. I can now hear light where once was filler.
