Singles rankings
Prior to the Manics own version of these in the NME, I had nothing else to do last night so I put this together this blog piece. Probably throwing myself to lions by posting it here, but it's either that or hardly anyone sees it. The Welsh man off of CBeebies liked it, so that's good enough for me. Thanks.

I decided that if I didn't see This is the Day at the bottom of your list immediately below Autumnsong, then I couldn't bring myself to bother with the rest of your piece.
So close! I'm currently considering my options. |

Hmm, interesting, I'd always wondered how I'd rank them myself. Might do a similar thing later out of superfluous boredom.

Far too difficult to even attempt ranking for me!

My top five most hated Manics singles. I was going to do a top five favourite ones as well but I've forgotten how to write anything nice about them (true story).
01. This is the Day: There are no words for a (former?) rock band that's prepared to show this off to the world as its new single. You can't even say it's like an X Factor cover because those who come up with the arrangements for the X Factor covers do a much better job. It didn't even get played over morons celebrating making it through bootcamp to the live X factor shows. You failed your mission, JDB & Wire. You failed to follow up your Strictly performance with a Sunday night X Factor slot because you're not as good as Matt Cardle. 02. Autumnsong: Fuck you, Autumnsong, you're not even the most pathetic excuse for a song I've ever heard anymore. 03. It's Not War Just The End Of Love: You'll notice I've not bothered to include the brackets in the title. If I did I would have written '(It's Not War Just) The End of Love' because, unbeknownst to Nicky Wire, his brackets for the sake of brackets are redundant and quite stupid. PS. if you're aiming for mass communication, write something worth communicating, not this repetitive gibberish about nothing. PPS. Steps. LMAO 04. Indian Summer: In case you didn't get the subliminal message with Autumnsong about there still being a great future for a band that's prepared to live off releasing singles that sound like pale imitations of ADFL for the next three years, here it is again. 05. The Love of Richard Nixon: I smiled when I first heard it. It wasn't a smile of happiness, it was an awkward smile of 'oh, I won't be making any new Manics mix tapes for friends ever again, then'. |

Worst single ranking is fun. I will go with:
1. Autumn Song 2. There By the Grace of God 3. So Why So Sad? 4. Postcards from a Young Man 5. The Love of Richard Nixon They all do nothing for me, just very bland songs I wouldn't mind if I never got to hear again. The exception being TLORN which is just cringe worthy. |
