I guess maybe you can tell when it's peoples first manics gigs - they tend to have quite tacky clothing, and really stereotypical stuff. And have an odd idea of what "glam" actually is (it means GLAMOUR people, not covering yourself in everything vaguely glittery and animal print and slogans you can find, all together.)
Nah I know you weren't being bitchy.

Well I was just wearing a black t shirt and black skinny jeans with a glittery headband and glittery eyeshadow. I had a bright pink feather boa at the beginning but that got lost pretty quickly. I don't think she actually said "looked" she just said "I'd have thought you were a manics veteran" - maybe she heard me talking about how I wanted them to play loads of old stuff, or talking to my friend about when she'd seen them before and thought I'd gone with her.

I've starred my favourite ones, which are usually based on a good atmosphere/band performance rather than a great setlist. I've been pretty lucky and seen quite a lot of 'rare' songs though, favourites being revol, door to the river, miss europa & wattsville blues.

Only gig I didn't really enjoy would be nottingham on the fd tour because I felt like I was going to freeze to death during the gig (even though I was on the barrier) and ended up with evil flu for the rest of that tour. I've been boycotting the shithole that is nottingham ever since.

I've been to 6 Manics gigs to date, which is enough for me so far. They are:
Manchester 2004
Leeds 2005
(JDB Leeds 2006)
Leeds 2007
Sheffield 2007
Manchester 2007
Birmingham 2007

I could nearly add Blackpool 97 onto that one, but my mother thought I'd get crushed in the crowd, and I was only 15, so I didn't get to go. Hugely dissapointed! I went into town and heard vague rumblings of Australia from outside the venue and went to the cinema or something like that instead! Still every tour since Truth, not so bad!

Same here - I'd probably have seen them more over the past 5/6 years if they hadn't been playing aircraft hangars. The difference in the performance / acoustics is huge.

and they're souless and full of people who only know the hits. It was funny when we saw them at the NEC on greatest hits tour, the look on the face of the girl standing next to me when they played Revol.

Sounds familiar - at Nynex in 97, the bloke in front of me, when Faster started "Uhhhh.... must be a new one."

The greatest hits tour was depressing for middle aged mondeo drivers trying to squeeze down the front... cos they'd like never done that a gig before, right? Fack orfff!!!
