It's such an anthem! How can anyone not like it?!

I really like this song, it's shameless and it sounds like the band were having fun with it.
I don't think it sounds out of place on the album at all, it links perfectly with Europa and Dreaming a City. |

Funny as fuck, I really hope they do it live, reminds me of "Touched by the hand of god" by new order (Maybe I've got the video to that song stuck in my mind).

...and I might have to have Nicky yelling 'Recession!' as my new ring tone...

The verses are bit cheesy sounding but the chorus is good. The verses remind me a bit of a poppy Franz Ferdinand sound. Not a bad song overall but if they did it live I don't think it would work at all.

Surprised no one has mentioned that SPLAM sounds A LOT like "Undercover Of The Night" by The Rolling Stones. It was the first thing I thought of really when I heard the song first time.
I think it's because I've played "Walk Me To The Bridge" and "Europa" to death at work, but SPLAM is the most fun song on the album, the one you'd play loud in the car - which I did today. When first listened to in order it doesn't fit, but "Dreaming A City" makes it fit, and the two are the peak of the album. But yeah, surprised Mick Jagger hasn't called the solicitors about SPLAM. He probably has it as his ringtone knowing him - which i don't. |
