It's Not Way (Just The End Of Love)
This came on my ipod earlier and I have to admit to finding it an absolutely horrid single. I had barely listened to it on release and always skipped it on PFAYM but I can't stand it. I hate the simplicity of it, the strings, how lazy and comfortable it sounds as a lead single. Where is the re-invention? where is the effort? It doesn't even have that lead-off track quality to it. Grrr
EDIT: The idiot I am mispelt War in the title field. Can someone change this to War please? Thanks.

It's brilliant live. I like the lyrics. It reminds me of a George Harrison song. Though the chorus is a bit weak. Although "You've got the looks/But I've got the scars" is quite good.

It's fucking awful. The best thing about it is it rips off Smashing Pumpkins so you can start humming that in your head instead.

i can only say what i and many others said at the time - if they had left it as they originally announced it, i.e. It's Not Love (Just The End Of War) the song would have made more sense lyrically, sounded more Manicishy and probably have been better accepted.

It's ok,and just ok. Not as awful as the majority of PFAYM, but very average MSP. I guess they thought it would sell, it didn't.

Its my fave off the album, the only songs I can stomach are the 3 singles so I play them then switch off!

Manics by numbers and one of the most insignificant entries in their singles catalogue but still surprisingly enjoyable. Something they could write in their sleep but it does have some genuine fun involved to it.

Being a Manics fan is like supporting a football team. And for the past five years we've been Liverpool fans. The Manics will never walk alone but we will be constantly moaning in their ears about how shit things have gotten while we're following them around.
PS. It's Not War is Stewart Downing. Autumnsong is Roy Hodgson. |

I love the manics and have done for many, many, many years but this single has really irritated me. The song I listened to before it came on was Tolerate and you can absolutely 100% state that song felt like a proper return-to-center stage Manic Street Preachers. I just find INWJTEOL has a real cheesy feeling to it - the strings are massively overblown, the lyrics are bereft of thought (I bet Nicky wrote that in 15 minutes whilst taking a dump), the music is astonishingly simple and it all feels a wee bit effortless but not in a good way. PFAYM is a great album but you definately feel worn out before Golden Platitudes kicks in.
