Has anyone listened to the album yet?

IntlDebris 08-02-2025 20:43

Apparently the band have.

Just noticed that the album will be available as a Dolby Atmos mix on Apple Music. Think this is a first for the band so can’t wait to hear the difference.

I think this is an automated thing Apple does as opposed to the band creating a specific 7.2 channel mix. Also only compatible with certain phones and software. Mileage varies with listeners but I haven't heard one of these mixes myself.

Are you sure? I listen to these all the time, they are mixed deliberately by an engineer and not automated. Some are absolutely fantastic. Current listening to the atmos mix of Sharon Van Etten’s new album and it really elevates it. Listening on a 5.1 Sonos set up.

Yeah just looked this up. Apple doesn’t do any mixing. Atmos or Spatial Audio tracks have to be submitted by artist and/or producer. You should definitely check it out, with a decent set up it’s a game changer.

Pearl Jam had Josh Evans do specific Atmos mixes for some of their albums. Ten in particular is notably enhanced by it.
It will be interesting to compare the vinyl audio of CT to the streaming version.

Chart position of BoR just a blank space.
Ranked the singles most enjoyed

People Ruin Paintings
Hiding In Plain Sight
Brushstrokes of Reunion
Decline&Fall

All above have been best singles since RiF era. Even aside from Walk Me To The Bridge.
People Ruin Paintings, as stripped back as it is, wouldn't have sounded out of place as the third single from THB to a non-Manicsfan. You can't say that of the other three singles though.
Imagine if instead of ADFL James went "No! I'm saving the band and writing the songs!".
So 1996's comeback was Brushstrokes of Reunion?
Yeah, we need both this and future albums.

Not yet, may have to retire popcorn for salt and vinegar crisps though.

Well that’s only through TUVL era then, but yes I agree. RIF had better singles across.

Oh wait! We’ve got entirely different songs/files, with the same titles?

Haha! No, although the Manics say never hallucinate, ADFL gone out of existence or even swapped? Somehow in Fantasyland BoR as it's written and sounds now. But released in 1996? It never happened but the possible trajectory disintergration blinds in it's impossibility!
Although if you want a bigger laugh... Imagine Hiding In Plain Sight between Mausoleum and Faster?
I still think People Ruin Paintings could have fitted on. And be thought weakest of THB.
Caution: Fantasy Manic Song Timeline Hindsighting Takes Away The Realness Of What We Experience.

Hi, I love listening to 5.1 album mixes with my 2003 5.1 set up (still alive and kickick, it's the set up I currently use for listening to music) but all these 5.1 dvds are in Dolby Digital or DTS. For Dolby Atmos, to I need something else? Is there a streaming service or a physical disc?
Thank you in advance, I'm not very updated on this subject.

This week I'll be mostly wearing my EMG sweatshirt.
