I think the artwork is awesome. Strange about the release date though.

mafiamonroe 01-06-2010 15:49

I like the pic but it seems a bit Suede to me. If you know what i mean. A bit Britpop.

bristarman 01-06-2010 15:50

All I think of is New Order, unfortunately.

Clarence Pistoldinner 01-06-2010 15:50

Young men don't send postcards - they're more likely to send a text or email or...erm..like some big thing on an iPad probably.

Mr Richey 01-06-2010 15:50

I think the release date given by NME is more realistic, so for now let's assume that Play and Amazon have gotten it wrong. What I really want to know right know is the tracklisting. How long before we get that I wonder?

I dunno. I like the offset centre composition. But then, I'm a sucker for the rule of thirds... :)

Looks a bit Leonard Cohen to me, but that's just wishful thinking/blinkered bias. :)

From the email to people on the official site mailing list:-

Win tickets and meet the band

The band want you to write your favourite quote (it doesn't have to be a Manics quote) on a postcard and send it in. The pick of the postcards will be displayed across the tour and at www.manics.co.uk.

One quote will be picked by the band for the top of the set list at each show. If your quote is picked, you'll be invited to your nearest show to meet the band, watch the show and then afterwards you'll receive the set list, signed.

Please write down the name of your preferred gig on the postcard alongside your favourite quote and, of course, your name and a contact email address or phone number. Then send it in to:

Manic Street Preachers Quote Competition
9 Derry Street
London
W8 5HY

Please ensure you read the terms and conditions.

More exact details about the Postcards From A Young Man album will follow soon, but if you want to pre-order it, you can get the standard edition and deluxe edition from Play.com.

Take care

It also gives the link to the pre-sale that Dext posted in the other thread.

Oh, I tend to align things to the side as well, nearly all the time haha. I just think this one works well centre.

tucka 01-06-2010 15:55

it would be smart to release it next month otherwise if there is really a 3 and half month wait it will leak by the middle of August at the very latest and there goes their chance of chart success

Loz 01-06-2010 15:56

If they are releasing it this month it definitely gives a chance for the tour to sell well. That release date is a Sunday though so possibly a mistake?
I hope it's not though :D

Mr Richey 01-06-2010 15:56

So if the official site is saying order it from Play, then the release day really is the end of June.

MANICSGASM!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D

Not that I'm a Seanus expert but it seems like he really does love music, though it's hard for me to imagine him playing with anyone but the manics (remember how he complained about writing that track for Kylie?). Nick has said that he'd be content never picking up a bass again and just watching tv for the rest of his life, but we all know Nick, that's probably an exaggeration. He'd probably never stop writing lyrics/poetry anyway.

Sean isn't interested in making solo records or playing in any band other than the Manics, but that is because his dedication to the Manics is so intense, not because his dedication to making music isn't.

As for Nicky, we all know he's full of shit! ;)

bristarman 01-06-2010 16:00

I think there must be a mistake as 27th June is a Sunday but 27th September is a Monday - someone must have had the dates upside down or the number 69 on their mind!

Vodka1968 01-06-2010 16:01

Album release date 27th June, pre-order from play.com
£8.95 or deluxe ed at £14.99
Decisions..decisions....

Play updated to 27/09 sounds better..
