dunno where he got that.
i was shaking so much he must've noticed. i usually just get a signature and say thanks but when he was fiddling with his phone it felt like an age and i became very aware of my legs turning to jelly.
what a bloody nice man

jelly legs are better than Parkinson legs, really.

great to hear that, you're gonna have a fantastic evening :D xx

That's bloody awesome! James is truly a gent :D

I've only ever got on the guestlist for the Manics once, for the Brum date on the SATT tour. I saw them in Edinburgh with the lovely Lynny (Nicky Wire's Dyson) and after the show, when we were meeting the band, I saw Martin Hall and asked him if he could check the ticket availability for Brum. I wasn't planning to see them again that tour (as I'd already seen them at Wolvo back in May) but I enjoyed the Edinburgh show so much that I thought it was worth asking. So Martin goes off to check and when he comes back he asks me for my name. So I gave it to him and he just goes "Right, you're on the guestlist for Brum. With a +1 so bring a friend. See you there!" and that was that! I was over the fucking moon

After seeing the little radio/cd player in James' kitchen and hearing of him having a tatty phone, I think it's hard to question whether he "needs the money" from any musical endeveaours. :)

blossom 28-09-2010 13:38

Saw Nicky in Glasgow!!!!!!

WelshManicFoo 28-09-2010 15:04

Great story about James. He really is a lovely down to earth man.

Dext37 Fielding 28-09-2010 15:06

Round the back after the Newcaslte gig lastnight during the autograph/photo scramble a fan said i am off to i think the Lincoln gig, James got out a red Whiteboard pen and put his name + 3 for Glasgow.

Same story really as Jack Duckworth.

Frozendiva 28-09-2010 15:31

James never fails to impress. Such a lovely man.

Chloe Thunders 28-09-2010 16:07

I'm going to say the exact same thing than you all, but James really is one of the coolest men I know.
Musicians from indie bands not even half as famous as the Manics should take notes about how he treats the fans.

mute solitude 28-09-2010 16:13

I'm really impressed by Jack Duckworths story.wow.

on my MSP spotting...no...I was going to make up some fibs to sound hunky, but I'm too lazy to use my imagination right now

Scarecrow 29-10-2010 19:27

I bumped into Nicky yesterday. Was wondering London aimlessly after hearing about Brixton being postponed, he came out of a shop as I walked past. Had a chat. Mentioned that they hated cancelling but James couldn't hit any notes. Said he thought Liverpool was great. Offered to put me on guestlist. Nice guy.

jack_duckworth 20-12-2010 20:23

*bump*
saw nicky today!
got some singles/postcards signed and had a little chat.
poor lamb's not well, all croaky voiced and sorry for himself.
he said he was worried about getting back in the snow as he 'had the car' with him.
i still cant picture him driving tho.
he looked sweet all wrapped up in a massive overcoat.
when he saw i'd already got james' sig on the record he giggled 'oh,.. he's been in then has he?...hmmm'

such a sweetie

thats what i've been wondering too!

The Gutless Wonder 20-12-2010 20:40

Well James 'drove up to meet Sir Kyffin Williams' but it doesn't necessarily mean that he was actually driving the car, cos he can't drive. So maybe it's the same with Nicky? Says he's with the car but doesn't mean he's actually driving it?

He was probably wondering if James had brought his Xmas present in there:lol: maybe his wife is the 'Taxi Driver' and she was waiting for him. Men always like to think of the car as their own even if they don't drive!

That bit just made me think he was being driven around by Travis Bickle. :S
