My guess is he's far to easily distracted to drive

as far as I know he doesn't and he told me he never will, in an interview once.

He had his "own" car in 2006, a Volvo that he was getting Greg Haver to drive him around in, we all had to go and have a look at it in Carmarthen at Gwyl Macs, he was very proud of it, he told us it was "his" - because he washes it!
I imagine he mean't his wife was with him in the car...

When someone says they've got the car with them it usually means it's them driving it.

I'd never take Nicky's word on anything! He's said they'd never do lots of things but changed his mind time and time again.

saw nicky today!
got some singles/postcards signed and had a little chat.
poor lamb's not well, all croaky voiced and sorry for himself.
he said he was worried about getting back in the snow as he 'had the car' with him.
i still cant picture him driving tho.
he looked sweet all wrapped up in a massive overcoat.
when he saw i'd already got james' sig on the record he giggled 'oh,.. he's been in then has he?...hmmm'

such a sweetie

awwwwwwwwwwwwwww  poor poor sweetheart!!!

I have a vivid memory of someone saying he/she saw Wire driving. or maybe just heard he was driving. or maybe Nicky was just sitting in the front seat. or maybe it didn't happen at all.

mafiamonroe 20-12-2010 22:15

Sean can definitely drive as he's owned countless cars. Plus he's driven Formula One cars. His Mini Cooper was up for sale on Ebay. James has said in the past that he wouldn't drive because of his dodgy eyes and that he prefers to be driven about by someone else. Yet that could have changed like lots of things have changed. And obviously Richey had/has a driving licence.

V.S.E.C 20-12-2010 22:57

Seeming as you people like to know, I saw JDB in trafalger square last thursday. He looked like a fishmonger in this giant waterproof coat he was wearing. Pointed him out to mate who just looked at me confused. I really wanted to go up and talk to him but thought better of it!

Blue Cat 20-12-2010 22:59

He's secretly a fishmonger. Music pays the bills, but it's not what his heart desires. He makes himself truly happy by selling people a key ingredient to fishermans pie.

Futurologist 20-12-2010 23:06

No, no, it's the fact that he facilitates the baking of so many fishermans' pies that drives him. He won't be happy till everyone in the world eats only pie.

Soon he'll start his own farm, soon you too could be eating JDB's Shepherds pie, Cottage pie, steak pie, apple pie (he has an orchard)...He's the new Bernard Matthews of pie! No pie will be safe.

That's a lot I've inferred from James wearing a coat in Trafalgar Square.

Steak and kidney(he breeds the cows himself), Chicken (he uses the eggs for the pastry), and he's feverishly trying to concoct a curry pie, but so far results have been disgusting. It's why he cancelled gigs and TV appearances lately.

V.S.E.C 20-12-2010 23:11

 It was very "I know what you did last summer Evil fisherman type". I suppose celebs try to disguise themselves in public to stop the general rif raff from annoying them.

I think I would buy a Pie from Bradders. He looks like the type of guy you could trust. "get yer fishy pie, y'know, kinda like, y'know pie like."
You had me at Y'know.

Blue Cat 20-12-2010 23:13

well, fishy pie sounds a bit wrong there. Especially if he was standing in a big long coat. I hope he's not turned into a flasher/ sex pest.

He's the Heston Blumenthal of pie.

I dunno, I think it would take a bit of the mystique away really. Like, "oh, there's Tarka, hello"
no more wondering about the creature...

Just saw James in Sainsburys, the little one on St Mary St in Cardiff. Bit stubbly, had his hood up. Didn't look in his basket as I'm not a freak. Er, that's it.

Never mind that, did he collect his Active Kids vouchers?

chien andalusia 16-03-2011 22:17

Arrived late for their Rock City during SATT tour & just as I was walking into the gig a very un-rock'n'roll people carrier turned up & the 3 of them piled out right in front of me. Too surprised to say or do anything.

I'd have said "Excuse me mate, do you know where the pies are in here?"

I'm surprised a security guard didn't tell him to take his hood down!

It must be great to have their level of fame, famous enough to be recognised but they can buy a loaf of bread without getting mobbed. I love em so much but don't really see em as mere mortals, so I forget that are actually humand and sometimes they must do mere mortal stuff like that

James replied with a wave of his hand and : "You don't want me to take my hood down, you can go about your business. Move along."

Frozendiva 17-03-2011 16:12

I'm not the rock star you're looking for.

The Gutless Wonder 17-03-2011 22:10

At least he didn't get questioned about mugging someone this time!

Bambi 03-05-2011 10:59

Just seen Nicky in Cardiff HMV. He was just browsing on his own, bought something I didn't see and had a quick laugh with the guy behind the counter (was it KYE?).

He had the usual shades on, hair the same as it's been for a while. It was near empty in there but I just didn't have the balls to go and talk to him. It might have been a bit embarrassing actually. "So, you coming to the CIA gig on the 21st?" "Er no, I'm going to see Suede instead..." *squirms*

Still, after seeing James a few weeks back (mentioned above) I'm on a Manic-spotting roll. Just need to bump into Sean down the shooting range and I've got the full set.

I'm not counting Richey.

jack_duckworth 03-05-2011 13:33

ffs, he's always in on my day off lately.
not seen sean for about 4 years so good luck with that!
i'll find out what he bought tomorrow and let you know x

I read this and thought 'why on earth would Nicky be seeing Suede on the night of a manics gig?'... I'm a bit slow today.

I really have to move to Cardiff! Haha. I'm really intrigued to know what he bought now too.

VivaHate313 03-05-2011 16:16

That's great Bambi - thanks for sharing! We're all now wondering what he bought :)

Trade street cafe is a safe bet as it's across the street from their Faster studios. Plus James mentioned it in a list of his fave cafes. And Louise and Nic saw him in there recently.

Cranes and Gamlins (music shops) and Spillers and HMV (record shops) are places I've seen James and Nicky on multiple occassions.

James often (in terms that I've seen him 5+ times waiting for one or getting in one) seems to get taxis from outside the New Theatre.
